Does anyone like Gerber knives?

Eh...
No.
I do own a few, because before I was officially a knife-knut, I bought them all the time.
I definitely don't carry them though.
For the price of a Gerber, you can buy BUCK knives.

In the 70's Gerber was awesome! They made really excellent knives. Somewhere along the line they forgot how. The only Gerber I would consider owning now is an LFK II which I do own. It is my urban survival knife that is tucked away in case I need it. The rest are garbage and when you get an LFK II it will need sharpening.

no I even had 2 of them made in the US issued to me and they were garbage, I hated them , didn't trust them and traded them off...Personal preference but I hate them.

I like the Guardian tanto I have. The factory grind was garbage though, as has been every other knife they've made that I've tried since my old USA made Gator.

Lol, ok. I obviously phrased it wrong.

Does anybody have a Gerber that they don't toss in their sock drawer when showing off their Spydies and Gold Class knives?

Yes, but none that were made in this millennium.

I like the LST and the Crusader. I wish they came in better steels, but the designs are good.

As for the rest of their catalog.... meh.

Yes, they still make good knives. But they also make crap ones. Their skeletonized folders SUCK, i have had 3. They all sucked. would not take a good edge. I have a Freeman folder with pear wood handles & absolutely LOVE it. I can get that scalpel sharp. I also have a Metolius fixed blade & absolutely LOVE it. Nice grippy handle, choil & harpoon style. VERY ergonomic & can get it scalpel sharp as well. One of the most comfortable small fixed blades that i have ever owned. But all my Gerbers had loose torx screws. Had to go to HF & buy an assortment of micro driver kits to get the right sizes to tighten them up.

I hear that the s30v Freeman is a good knife.
I had the standard folding version that was pure junk.
I sold it off for $25.
There are still 4 Gerbers in my house that I either found or they were given to me. They sit in a junk drawer.

I use a gerber epic every day. I work in East Africa as an emt. Hasnt let me down, Im impressed with some of their newer items.

I still have a s30v freeman folder from when I was younger, and not into knives that much. It is solidly built, but the scales suck. I haven't bought a gerber since I realized what else was out there.

Nope. I had a few Gerber MTs but unloaded those after time. Another Co. I won't buy from again.

I picked up the Gerber Icon from Walmart. Mainly, I needed a larger blade folding knife for a jobsite and wanted something I wouldn't miss if "lost". I do own more expensive knifes, but I quickly discovered how much I enjoyed using the Icon. From the ergonomics, light weight, sharpness of the blade over a ton of use and the quick flip open action, it's become one of the few cheap knives I can depend on. It's also worked into my Edc rotation. I also own the Gerber Instant and love it!

The Gator knives are still made in Portland. Great knife. Unbelievable grip, great steel (the drop point version is cpm154), and works well for me.
