Does Anyone Need A $475 Boxcutter?

I’ve owned everything from Spyderco to Chris Reeve to Shirogorov over the last 7 years. In the end though I always found a boxcutter did a better job with the tasks I perform 99% of the time. This for me is the epitome of functional art, and I’m glad I managed to get in on this last drop.

Hawk Knives (G&G Hawk) just announced that it will be producing the "Shortcut" which is bascially a $475 boxcutter.

It is a very well designed $475 boxcutter but my $1 box cutters and $5/$8 utility knives will do me just fine. Thank-you.

I've been waiting for them to start making the MUDD again and now they're doing this? Frankly, I'm really disappointed.

But, if they're charging $1-2k for a Deadlock and $475 for this, I guess I'm not going to be able to afford (or want to pay for) a MUDD if they actually do start making them again.

This makes me regret trading away my MUDD for a BRS Alpha Beast all over again. 😢

Oh well . . . 🤷‍♂️

Wouldn't wanna damage that Louis Vuitton man purse when opening it's box...

Man there are a ton of Frankenthreads popping up today.

Bet it would sell for every penny, even after a good amount of pocket time. Maybe even a few more with a $25 stonewash after service. Sounds like smart money to me if it trips the trigger.

I've taken an interest in these utility blade holders recently, but I'd have to say this particular one is a fail for me. It looks great, but the design defeats the purpose of a knife like this. I like utility knives because you can quickly remove the blade if you take it somewhere knives aren't allowed, or switch it out if you cut something that quickly dulls it. This one needs tools to change the blade, and it's more of an operation with a risk of losing small parts.

So far my favorite for this type of knife is the Rike Alien 1. There are a couple titanium balisongs out there that use the Stanley 1992 blade that are also pretty cool.

That's too futuristic for me lol - I do have a Hawk Shortcut I've never used yet, and it's still ugly too :p

For $75-85 the TiRANT Razor by Exceed Designs flipper in Ti is a pretty nice little replaceable blade box cutter. I like it more than my Serge Knife Co slip joint, because it locks decent and flips nicely. But the Serge Knife has a very strong lockup despite being a slip joint. Unfortunately they come with a tool the switch out blades.

Poser. Nobody here wants a WANKER MANKER...when you can spend moar!!!

You boys do know that we have PMs now, right?

Nuff said.

I like the Donuts and the Stinger. The middle one seems a bit too weird even for me.

The middle one is also a Stinger, that extends out and you can twirl a knob to lock the blade open.
