Does Anyone Need A $475 Boxcutter?

That's the same linkage as Joe Caswell came up with for the Provoke. I hope they aren't ignoring the patent.
OCD-4-EDC also has an extending cutter, but made out of plastic - I gave mine away with the last knife I traded here.

I bought a 5-pack of Tungsten Carbide blades from American Cutting Edge last year, but they are "Industrial grade" not medical grade. Where can one find medical grade? I might like to do an emergency apendectomy or tracheotomy one day.
Same company, the difference is the medical grade have a higher quality edge bevel...basically perfect where the industrial grade blades I got have some minor chips in the edge from the supplier.

Do surgery in the morning and cut linoleum all afternoon.

It’s been hinted by the manufacturer that the last drop of $475 box cutters might’ve happened yesterday. So, I finally committed.

Maybe y’all still can too…if you do, indeed need a $475 boxcutter. I clearly do.

I broke down and got one too, too cool to pass up for a knife nerd. I had the CR back in the day with the same locking mechanism, always regretted selling it. I love the concept of the replaceable blades, I’m paying for the design and machining of a unique cutting tool.

I don't recall seeing them say they will stop making them, but did they? I've already deleted the drop email, since I have a couple.

I don't think they're going to stop production on them anytime soon. They just announced not to long ago that they picked up some more machinery so they could up production. Who knows though. Maybe they have some new design they want to shift focus to. Either way, I caved and ordered one from the drop yesterday. I've had some real garbage luck with missing drops lately. It's about time I landed a win.

Turns out that I misread the email. They said, “This might be the last opportunity at these prices.” My bad.

Might be that our $475 box cutter will be a $525 box cutter on the next drop.

Just got mine a few days ago from the last batch.

I have some of the surgical tungsten blades coming.

I really do like it, so small and light and I love the engineering.

Much of this thread was asking if it was worth the price, I would say absolutely it is.

I felt compelled to come back and give a mini review, I absolutely love this knife, it is engineered so well in the quality of build is very high. It’s just a pleasure to handle. Additionally, it is so light, and the pocket clip which is spring loaded works so well I literally have it with me at all times even on my pajamas lounging around the house. It’s so nice to have a razor sharp blade for cutting and slicing little items which is 95% of what I use a knife for.

I will say the surgical grade tungsten carbide blades are very nice and extremely sharp, but they do chip out pretty easily, I think I’m on my second one now out of five in a year but once the five run out, I’ll probably go for something that’s a bit more durable and doesn’t chip as easily.

My friends milwaukee fast back box cutter is years old, covered in old white paint and tape residue, and still works like a semi new swiss clock
"Need" isnt the word id go with, want, maybe
