I'm sure I'm in the minority, but I don't EDC. I have knives at work for my job, a couple in my car just incase, a bunch at home that i use, or they sit in the collection. Today i actually carried a cheap Mac tools China made pocket knife to training just in case i needed it during training ripping apart engine. Didn't want to carry a nicer knife cause im traveling and staying in another and didn't want to worry about loosing it

I always have a knife clipped to my pocket. Can't say I've ever worried about losing a knife.

I carry an EDC, but I don't really need to. Between my Leatherman Micra and a pair of ordinary office shears, I can do everything I need to do around the office that requires a sharp edge. The only reason I carry one is because I like knives. :)

I don't think you'll find many here that doesn't carry a knife.
I have a few local knife-nut friends, but most are not, and I can't think of a man I know that doesn't carry a knife.

I would imagine that the vast, vast majority of members here, all of whom have taken the time to join a place just to talk about knives, actually carry knives as much as possible.

That we EDC knives is kinda why we are here.

I could not imagine leaving my house without a knife clipped to my pocket.

I would feel naked without a knife........................................

In the past seven years, I have probably walked out of my house without a knife a total of about fourteen times. Or, on average two days out of every year leaving home without a knife.

Luckily I keep a sak and a byrd in my car at all times, so about half of those times I was able to supplement my normal edc with a car knife.

So about one day a year do I leave home without a knife and make it a full day knifeless. And you know what? That's too often to be knifeless, IMO.

You horrify me.

But I see your point. Today, I got to pull out my SAK Nomad and open a letter. That was it, and it qualifies as a fairly heavy use day for me. But I'd still feel naked leaving the house without something in my pocket.

I found a wonderful solution for that. I've got a nylon ripstop tri-fold wallet with an external coin compartment that's large enough to hold a 4" folder. I threw a CRKT Eros in the compartment because it's practically weightless and now I'm never without a knife when I leave the house. :)

Knives in your pocket or placed/stored where you use them.. about the same thing (almost). But I like a knife in my pocket.

I don't really need a knife per se usually, I just like them so I carry them. I almost always have on one me, if I don't then it's because I'm either in court or I forgot.

Forgot a knife last week one day, I felt like I forgot my di...err wallet.

Let's see, I have two on my person, two in my Go Bag, Case Camper in my Jeep along with an axe and machete, you can put me down for yes I carry. :)

This is why I hate flying. I just feel "wrong" without a knife in my pocket. I've had an SAK and/or a clip knife in my pocket since I was 8 years old. Thankfully there are some TSA-approved SAKs available (no knife, just scissors and blunt implements) so I don't feel totally naked.

Mr. mars51, you are sick; you need help. You walk around naked and see nothing wrong (maybe a bad analogy :D). The only thing worse than having no EDC would be no firearm (I cannot...will not picture that.) The country would be more civil if more carried firearms, and it would be easier for all to open things if more EDC'd . I have to go now. :grumpy:

I would feel naked without my EDC. I have walked out of the house without one before, but I always keep a backup in my truck.

I've carried a knife in my pocket for about the last 27 years, since packing a slip joint starting at age 10. Grandpa said I should always have one, and I was a Cub Scout, so 'be prepared', etc. I use mine frequently at work, and am now carrying a larger blade on days off.

Are you being facetious? Do you seriously consider not carrying a knife worse than not carrying a gun? I don't carry a gun, and I've never regretted that. I own guns, and thoroughly enjoy them at the range, but I don't have a carry permit. Not that I could get one even if I wanted to - SoCal being the way it is.

Regardless, we all use our knives on a weekly basis, minimum. How often do you gun-toting guys draw your guns outside the range or your home? Once in a lifetime? Twice? When you do, what are the odds anything was actually in danger other than your wallet? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for defense of self and property, but sheesh...

I don't want to start any arguments, just felt I had to comment on the absurdity of that statement. Carry on.

Its hard for me to go somewhere without a knife. I, like most here, feel naked without one.

Personally I have been carrying almost every day since the first 110 I acquired as a kid. See I grew up in the country and everyone edc'd. Then my career as a LEO dictated I carried tactical daily. Since retirement I have found carrying every day essential. I can't tell you how many times I reach for her to do some task. She's like a loyal dog, always there for me. I have been bitten by a Spydie and now can't get enough. Hang around long enough and you'll find a best friend in your pocket daily. It's like Crack cocaine my friend.
