does anyone not carry at all?

I've gotten more into the habit of putting a knife in my pocket than a cell phone. People can't go anywhere or function without having a smartphone in their hands, but I can. :D

My cell phone got to be too big to stick in my pocket, so now it rides in a holster on my hip. The good news is, taking it out of my pocket freed up room for my EDC. So it all worked out well in the end. :)

I would imagine that the vast, vast majority of members here, all of whom have taken the time to join a place just to talk about knives, actually carry knives as much as possible.

That we EDC knives is kinda why we are here.

Not everyone comes here just to talk about knives. Some of us have alternate but dovetailing outdoor interests such as emergency shelter\fire making with cutting tools, safe and proper axe use etc. And no I do not carry a knife everywhere I go. I feel zero need to carry into a church, school, daycare, a wedding, certain work or public places. But answering a simple inquiry is less than satisfying for some, when opportunities are seen to spew out a constant stream of negativity and sarcasm.

Cellphones used to be huge devices that required a strap to sling over your shoulder (literally).
Then, they became so tiny you almost needed tweezers to hold them.
Now, they are getting to the point where you need a belt to carry them around...or a bag which slings over your shoulder with a strap. :D

Progress!!!

Yes it was, if you happen to be one of the "nicest people" , it was a compliment . I'm sorry if you took it differently sir. I'm from Florida were we wade fish and we have a saying, you never know what is lurking around in the water. If I offended you, my apologies

No offense taken my man! I just wanted to justify my laughter.... And yeah, I guess you could count me as one of the good guys. Most of the time anyway. I wade fish too btw, right off the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, near corpus. Great fun! Mostly bull reds - gig flounder too. And you're right - never know what's out there. Been brushed by sharks so many times I carry a fully serrated blade just in case one gets too friendly!

Wallet, keys, phone, tap the pocket clip so I know my knife is there...I'm ready to go.

I've carried a knife almost every day for the last four years since I bought my first quality knife in a benchmade. I may have forgotten it twice and like others have already mentioned it felt weird. Tho I will admit, I don't necessarily need to use one daily. I wish I had a job or a reason to use a knife much more often. I do use one as a warehouse worker, but not as often as you'd think. Still, always ready when one is needed.

Are you being facetious? Do you seriously consider not carrying a knife worse than not carrying a gun? I don't carry a gun, and I've never regretted that. I own guns, and thoroughly enjoy them at the range, but I don't have a carry permit. Not that I could get one even if I wanted to - SoCal being the way it is.

Regardless, we all use our knives on a weekly basis, minimum. How often do you gun-toting guys draw your guns outside the range or your home? Once in a lifetime? Twice? When you do, what are the odds anything was actually in danger other than your wallet? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for defense of self and property, but sheesh...

I don't want to start any arguments, just felt I had to comment on the absurdity of that statement. Carry on.

that guy was being ridiculous not very many people carry guns

Well... Current us population is 313.9 million.

lets say 2 million people edc a gun, 2/313.9 = 0.637% of the population

Not much of the population carries knives these days either...as a percentage.
In sheer numbers, it is a fair bit though.

The only time I don't have a pocket knife on me is when I'm in bed. But I do have SAK on the night stand.

stabman: nice try but don't bother. Anyone who considers millions not many is an irrational person. Even your number is very low, by the way, though you go in the right direction. My point was never to say most people carry firearms, only that society gets more polite as that number increases among the LAW ABIDING. That was, by the way, the case in the "old west" despite what is portrayed. This is America, so to each his own whether through patriotism, concern for rights, self and fellow man or cowardice. To the OP, again, sure some do not, and that is fine, but ,as others have said they would be a minority on this forum. A topic more interesting than seemed at first glance. Thanks mars51

not a fad or a way of life. That can change depending on the circumstances. It's in my nature. And the only time I don't carry is out of respect. ex. State, federal, businesses I know, like and trust.

always have carried a knife of some sort since i was a kid or a multitool. and you people are twisted with all the naked feeling and guys pulling out their SAK's lol j/k!
