"What we need to do now is establish just how far away we are from that goal and attack it. If it means that I need to get a paid subscription, then I'm in. If it means that 1SKS needs to sell "X" quantity of some item, then I'm in. If there is something definitive that needs to be accomplished, then that something needs to be identified to all the participants here so that they can decide if they want to contribute toward that goal."
Well, it's clear that buying a paid membership will help. that's really beyond question. The issue is, how can we get members who HAVE the funds to buy a membership, pronto? It makes me think of a bar with free h'ordoeuvres (whatever). tons of people come in, it's a great place to hang out, but lots of people enjoy the company and the food without buying a beer. Then the bartender starts complaining that he can't pay the rent, and people get huffy that if they have to pay for a beer, all the "good folks" will leave and the place won't be worth frequenting anymore. I'm sorry if this touches a nerve, but that's plain-and-simple freeloading. The bartender shouldn't pay out of his pocket to keep you well-fed and amused.
Spark has indicated that we need more memberships, that is a better way to help BF than buying from 1SKS. So, how can we encourage peole to do that? shouldn't this cry for help be enough to get good people (who can) to do the right thing?
