Does this make any sense? I want something identical that I already have

Long story short, I need to make a quick decision here and it won't be cheap. Knife I did not expect to fall in love with I have fallen in love with and they are very hard to find. There is another one available right now, but is the same exact version that I already have. This would be the first purchase I've ever made to have an exact backup which doesn't make sense to me with my mind but it does with my heart.

The company has a great lifetime warranty which is why I'm sure I could do with only one.

If you love the knife that much, would you buy a backup of the same exact one?

I’ve done it several times but never with anything terribly expensive.

After some time passed, I accepted the fact that I’m not hard on my knives or prone to losing them and I’ll probably never need the backup knives.

I also concluded that although the backup knife is exactly the same knife, it’s not the same knife that I bonded with. For me personally, if I lose a knife it’s best to move
on to something else.

I have done so several times , although I try not to get exact duplicates .

Some models get discontinued, or modified, and become nearly impossible ,and/or very expensive, to replace .

A warranty may or may not assure an exact replacement , if a knife is lost or badly damaged .

I have more rationalizations , probably , if you need them . ;)

I have a duplicate ZT because I love the 0909 so much! I love the PM2 and had 3 at one point, all different versions though. I'm down to my favorite PM2 now though. I have two Militarys, though one is a Ti so very different animals. I have several SHFs, but they are different handle patterns so I tell myself they don't count as duplicates 😁

Go for it, particularly since as you say this knife is very hard to find. If you really want it, and can genuinely afford it, I think it would be unwise to pass up the opportunity. It's never a bad thing to have a back up for a knife you really love, or prize, or whatever term you wanna use....
