... Now for the question, do you "OWN" your dog?

Even though I've been asked... 'Are you the owner of that dog?', I've never felt that I "OWNED" any of my dogs. I've fed them, watered them, bathed them, walked them, played with them, cared for them when they were sick, enjoyed their company, cried when they were put down. Would I consider that I "OWNED" them... no more than you could say you "OWNED" a good, trusting friend.

Boerboel??

South African version of the mastiff, they start at about 100 lbs, some of them grow into monsters. The mother of our female was at least 25 lbs heavier. Very protective breed, not the type of dog you want to meet when you break in somewhere, specially if you are trying to steal the sofa. :D

Boerboels are some of the best and all round most capable dogs.

If I weren't so in love with pitbulls and if I were looking for a pure breed dog from a breeder, it would be the Boerboel.

Meet Aussie. She is also a pound puppy and the best bet the vet can judge is that she is an Australian Sheppard mix.

I had a mixed pit bull/lab for about 16 years (sweetest dog I ever was around, unless you threaten a member of our family). When old age finally caught up with Shannon, it took about a year before I could get another dog but Aussie has become a good companion. No, I don't "own" her but she has joined our "pack" and knows that I am the alpha dog.

Borboels are way too big for me. I only weight 180, and I dont think I can handle a 150lbs masstif type dog.

Anyone has a Vizla? I read some very good things about them, and see them here and there in the field. Seems to point well and a good swimmer.

I have hunted Vizlas and was impressed, they IMO have more grit and heart than some other pointers. Chris
