Dogs and knives, just for fun.

I mentioned this thread to my wife and she immediately sat down and inisted I show her all five pages. :) Then she told me to post pictures of our dogs. I, of course, just do what I'm told.

These two unforunately have passed on, but were with us for a long time. Half lab/great dane and half pit bull/jack russell (we think).

Our current dog, chocolate lab. Unforunately when we moved to Okinawa they wouldn't let us take her, so she's currently with the in laws. We'll pick her up in another year when we move back. Here she is helping my wife try on my chem gear. :)

Still trying to get the whole picture posting thing down. I got it once, lets see if luck is repetitive...

He's a very regal dog, and one of my greatest regrets is neutering him before I had a chance to breed him. I would have loved a pup with his face and personality! It may not have made any difference, though. The few people I spoke to about breeding him would only do it on condition of his placing highly at show. My dog runs in the woods with me. He doesn't show. The breed is the poorer for his not having reproduced.

Ridgebacks are awesome, cousin had two. My 10year old daughter fell in love with them.

Your daughter and I are on the same wavelength! I was in Santa Fe walking to a trailhead when a Ridgeback and his owner came off the trail. It was love at first sight (dog, not the hiker!) and I knew someday when I had the means to get a dog it would be a Ridgeback. It took 7 years, but it happened!

I think chocolate labs may be the best looking dogs of all. I hope you are enjoying Okinawa, my brother went there for a break from Hawaii, very jealous.

too good of a thread to die, so i'll revive it.

magnus playing in the yard with the neighbor's kids. i've posted him before, but to those who didn't see, he's a dogo argentino, not a giant pit bull or mutt. i guess he's still at 105.

Awesome thread! There are some great pics.
Sadly Im not in a position to own a dog right now, but I sure miss having one.
Huge fan of the Dogos and Ridgebacks.
......but I certainly like the smaller dogs as well.
A wire haired Dachs is a charming dog.

A friend of mine asked advice; he wanted a faithful guard dog, as his wife and him both worked odd hourse and lived away from other house in the wood.
I made him buy a Ridgeback. Thor was PERFECT for the job - biggest Ridgeback Ive ever seen and a super good dog.
Very friendly.....once he had been assured, that a guest was indeed welcome. They could not have gotten a better dog.

And yes, real men can have small dogs too.
The pic of the Shih Tsu with the SAKs is fantastic.
Clearly only to be trusted with the can openers and not the blades, LOL.

Here's a joke- A man went to a zoo, There was only one animal there, a dog. It was a Shih tsu.
Took me a while:D
Most excellent!

My old buddy. RIP Petey the pitbull. Sorry no knives.

My best bud and family pooch Lincoln. He's supposedly a aussie sheppard/border collie mix but I believe he's a certified mutt... :D

These are the most current pics I have of him; he's about a 1 1/2 years old and 50 ish pounds right now. All three are from different trail outings...

Last night's snowy walk in woods, lighting up a distant tree with my 4sevens X10 in order to provide lighting for the photo.

I had this scrapyard SOD on my hip for last night's walk, no knife for the dog though.

We are big dog lovers in my family. When we were in our mid teens, my brother and I got Boxer pups, a brindle male (Guiness) and a fawn/flashy female (Embyr). Guiness wasn't the swiftest dog around but he absolutely adored my mother and followed her around the house until we lost him to cancer some months back. Embyr is the single most loving dog I have ever seen. Even now, at 10 years old it's getting hard for her to move much (at 90lbs she's huge for a Boxer) she will come to everyone around and wait for a kiss on the head before she goes and lays down. She is fiercely protective of us as well. She is the only dog I have ever had that would sleep the entire night in the bed with me without moving. Laying right up against me on her side with her head on my arm, and that's where she slept even as a pup. My mother loved the two of them so much she wouldn't let us take them with us when we moved out. Not a bad thing since it kept them together. Embyr never left Guiness' side once the cancer started to take it's toll on him. She was there until the end, checking on him and watching over him. Guiness was my mom's faithful companion until he passed and both her and Embyr were lonely without him so my mother in law gave her a Dachsund pup from her last litter (she breeds minis) and she has brought new life to both of them. The little ball of fire named Twinkle really keeps them both active. Embyr will still go out and take a nap on Guiness' grave but you can tell she's smiling when Twinkle's pulling on her ears.

Embyr and Guiness (only digital pic I have of both of them)

My wife and I have 2 Mini Dachsunds and I love this breed more and more. She got me a black and tan longhair female when we got our house and she has a piebald female. MacKenzie is the black and tan and she is a wonderful companion. She loves nothing more than to cuddle on the couch while I watch tv or to chase the ducks and birds my neighbor feeds out of the backyard. She doesn't know she only weighs 12 lbs! Not that any Dachsund does. Bella is much more timid but still very sweet once she gets used to you. They're fiercely intelligent and incredibly affectionate. They also are great with all our friends babies. I never thought I would like small dogs but these little ratweasels have wormed their way deep into my heart.

Here is Thor. The biggest Ridgeback, Ive ever seen. Not my dog, but I got a buddy and his wife to buy it, when they needed a faithful dog, that would be alert, as they lived in a wooded area.
They got all that...and then some. He was a good dog.

Sorry to hear about Magnus. It's never easy with a young dog. My buddy had a greater swiss mountain dog with bad epilepsy. She was a wonderful dog but the repeated seizures were taking their toll
