Quite a lot more than a few passes. I wrapped small strips of 600 grit around my small sanding block and probably should have started with 400. Then used Super Eraser and 0000 steel wool for the final finish. Every ten passes or so, I would stop and examine until it was gone. That took me about an hour, as I would keep seeing the numbers slightly. I would say to self - still there ! 😲 🤨

Always stroke across the bolsters, like custom makers use. For those that are not adept to doing this, you always stroke the entire width of the bolster. You sand it in one spot ..... expect flat spots ! The numbers were not that deep, but, deeper than it appeared. 😊

I still might use my wood burning tool to burn Peter rabbit in my scales. 😉 🐇 ................ or not.🤣
