Guys and gals, yall can look at my feedback. I'm the easiest guy in the world to get along with and I go out of my way to make sure I do the right thing.
As some already know, I bought 2 Brand Hammer new Eklipse Tri-Way Harpoon Tantos.
And, the actions were just not good. So, long story short, I sent the Orange one in and it had new bearings put in at no charge and shipped back. Bear in mind I bought these about a week and half apart. So, I then sent in the black and blue one. It arrived at the Ranch on June 26.
Today I get an email that I will have to pay $25 in order to get it back.
Ya know, I gotta tell ya, ya better watch your P's and Q's with Hinderer. I honestly think they got upset with me for inquiring when my knife would be repaired. And, communicating this time around was not good at all. I just don't know for the life of me what they're thinking, but a brand new $425 POCKET KNIFE - it ought not to cost a man $25 for new bearings!!! The knife was BRAND NEW
I tell ya gang, I'm done with Rick Hinderer
And, Ive bought at least 10 Hinderers.....
I'm sorry for the rant, but I really thought people should be made aware of this.
Bear with me gang, I'm just really emotional right now. I thought the world of Hinderer before this morning.
I should also say that I called and spoke with Carrie and man, I swear, when I asked her about the charge she sounded nervous, she didn't say anything at first, then said well, some of that prolly goes to cover shipping. I said, Carrie, this was the SAME problem and fix with the Orange one and I wasn't charged anything. Lol, this is a warranty issue.
Anyways, I'm just very disappointed.

Bummer... I’ve followed your posts, you’ve been very patient and never said anything even slightly negative until now. I like my XMs but I find this troubling.

Thank you, Lee.
It just not cool man.

A bad customer service experience can change anyone's mind about a brand.

I've been lucky and only had to send two knives back for warranty work.
One company was great , the other was bad ( sent me back an old knife they had laying around).
The bad one went out of business.

That's not cool man. If I'm buying a pocket knife that cost more than my car payment, I expect it to be perfect out of the factory; and not be charged for any factory errors.

I would like to think that if you've bought 10 in the past and they where ok; then you're not over reacting of poor action currently.

And you have to buy a proprietary pivot screw tool? (Maybe not required) Maybe things are getting tight at the factory due to COVID-19??? I understand things happen, but why charge me for something covered under the warranty? My 400 bucks wasn't enough to cover it? And to be honest, 25 bucks for shipping sounds like a bit much.

And, please guys, don't get me wrong.
I'm not wanting this to turn into a flame party ag

Thank you.
They added new bearings too.
That $25 is the last Rick Hinderer will ever see from me. And, really, thats a shame.

Yeah, bearing should have been free....meh. I wasn't looking to trash them. I only own one, and wanted a skinny skinner down the line. But that sucks to hear.

I hear ya.
And, I'm certainly not trying to trash Hinderer, and I know that your not either.
I just wanted people to know what they did.
Honestly, the only ones trashing Hinderer, is Hinderer.

It sounds like Hinderer is trashing himself. The quality and finish issues have been with us for some time; but, now poor customer service on top of that. I certainly have little reason to seek his stuff out.

Bummer...I just discovered knives and last week bought my first HINDERER and I'm in love with it!! It's got me wanting and contemplating my next one. I'm Sorry for your negative experience....let me know if you want to sell any of your Hinderers....

Lmao, that's a man of opportunity there.

Lol, yeah, but I wander if he's willing to eat that extra $25 dollars that I have in it, thanx to Hinderer
As of right now I have about $465-$470 in it.
Shipping and insurance to the Ranch adds on...:(
Ole Rick really takes care of long time many, many, repeat business customers, dont he??
I'm sorry, I try to laugh, but there's really nothing funny at all about this.
Olecowboyfromhell might just get himself a good dose a disappointment like me.

Yeah.......as a former business owner.
The cost of making things right never exceeds the cost of losing a good customer.
A study was done that an unhappy customer will tell say 10 people, then those people will tell "x" number of people.
Word of mouth about your product is better than any advertising dollars spent.
The worst is a customer disappointed in a company they liked and trusted.

Wise and 100% true.
There's still time for Hinderer to make this right.
But, that just ain't gonna happen.

When companies gain a certain market share an success.
They are then managed by the numbers. Will they go out of business no. Their business will increase.......but the loss of "x" percent to unhappy customers. Will impede growth.

Dumped all mine years ago after Rick put out the email blaming his customers for him not being able to get any work done.. No thanks. Since then I've heard that there was a guy there running Support that was way too aggressive although I never ran into him myself.. Wouldn't have minded a new Eclipse that actually flipped but there's no way I'd spend the money on another Hinderer personally. It is what it is..
