Don't take offense to this as it's not meant that way but reading about your eklipse saga gave me the feeling that you were putting RHK on a pedestal. Not defending them. Reading that story I knew there was a huge potential for disappointment. Sort of like a "never meet your heroes" type thing.

This link should probably be here. If I missed it linked above, forgive me.

Lol, I absolutely wandered about that too!

Yeah, that didn't last long!!
And, not really sure why you wanted to post that anyways?
It was good for the first couple a days or whatever, but then went downhill fast.
But, I think I see your point?
I was happy, then I got disappointed?

You aren't sure why I would want to post the exact situation you are talking about here that you outlined in another thread so we can all be on the same page?

Oh, that's fine.
I just thought the situation is that I got charged $25 for a warranty issue.
But, your right, I did put Hinderer on a pedestal and was disappointed.
I see what your saying now, and your right!

I find information in that thread of yours I linked very pertinent. You said this carrie person said there were issues with the bearings that required further attention but the work order mentions nothing, and only 5 minutes of work. Those things don't add up. I wonder what gives?

How many times have you sent something in to hinderer? Just these two knives?

Who knows? I sure don't.
I have one email stating that Rick had to look at it personally as there was still intermittent rubbing of the bearings. But, THAT knife was repaired, and I think it took much more than 5 minutes.

In the least, they're not using their forms accurately. That certainly shouldn't have been marked as in spec.

Guys and gals, yall can look at my feedback. I'm the easiest guy in the world to get along with and I go out of my way to make sure I do the right thing.
As some already know, I bought 2 Brand Hammer new Eklipse Tri-Way Harpoon Tantos.
And, the actions were just not good. So, long story short, I sent the Orange one in and it had new bearings put in at no charge and shipped back. Bear in mind I bought these about a week and half apart. So, I then sent in the black and blue one. It arrived at the Ranch on June 26.
Today I get an email that I will have to pay $25 in order to get it back.
Ya know, I gotta tell ya, ya better watch your P's and Q's with Hinderer. I honestly think they got upset with me for inquiring when my knife would be repaired. And, communicating this time around was not good at all. I just don't know for the life of me what they're thinking, but a brand new $425 POCKET KNIFE - it ought not to cost a man $25 for new bearings!!! The knife was BRAND NEW
I tell ya gang, I'm done with Rick Hinderer
And, Ive bought at least 10 Hinderers.....
I'm sorry for the rant, but I really thought people should be made aware of this.
Bear with me gang, I'm just really emotional right now. I thought the world of Hinderer before this morning.
I should also say that I called and spoke with Carrie and man, I swear, when I asked her about the charge she sounded nervous, she didn't say anything at first, then said well, some of that prolly goes to cover shipping. I said, Carrie, this was the SAME problem and fix with the Orange one and I wasn't charged anything. Lol, this is a warranty issue.
Anyways, I'm just very disappointed.

That’s a real bummer.

Also, i still wonder what the real issue in both knives was. IMO it can’t be the bearings, they are mass produced and the same for all modern Hinderer. I must have handled 50+ and they were all interchangeable.
Must be some systematic issue with the lock side of the new eklipse.

But, thats NOT the issue.
Being charged $25 today is.
And, honestly it is what it is.
I'm done talking about it.
I really dont know what else can be said.
Just really, really, wanna thank everyone for understanding and even moreso, I hope this helps someone from making the same mistake I made.

No idea man.
I paid my $25 ransom and I really dont care anymore. Ya know?
Thank you, though.

Yes. Every xm18 I've had has been perfect.
Oh, I should also say that I sent in a Full Track to be looked at for blade play, but they wouldn't mess with it, because of locktite issues. And, that was fine.
No worries there. Although I would've been glad to pay them to have looked at it.
And, since your asking, I was absolutely upfront about it. I even told them in email before I sent the full track in that I had bought it second hand. He said to go ahead and send it in. He said he couldn't promise anything, but he would try. So, like I said, no worries there .

OP - I can understand your frustration and I agree it does not look like good customer service for RHK to charge you $25.

With that being said, I am still not sure how severe and persistent the gritty action with your Eklipse was. Is it possible that the grittiness showed up only sometimes but not always such that during that 5-minute service time it happened to be not gritty at all? (I have a ball-bearing framelock flipper of another brand behaves like this). I mean, Hinderer might be a nutty man but there is no good reason for him or his staff to lie a knife had no issue while it had.

It seems as if their sales structure is a bit strange. Maybe just par for the course, I don’t know. But “Hinderer sends what Hinderer sends” seems to me as if someone sets up a web site to take orders and collect payment, and Hinderer ships from their warehouse. Maybe it’s the modern way but I don’t think it’s a very cool way for the vendor to release himself from any mishap.

Yes. It was bad.
Honestly guys, not sure what else can be accomplished here.
I was charged $25 for something that should've been covered under warranty.
That being said, I dont know what else to say.
