Don't buy Benchmade 710D2 on Amazon!

Amazon will send you a new one or give you a refund. I had to return a knife recently. They are a reliable company to do business with, IMO.

I don't see how this has anything to do with Amazon.

I once bought a game of Candyland at Wal-Mart and once of the pieces was broke. Don't buy any games at Wal-Mart!!

Amazon waited for your return and sent the same knife straight to me. bummer.

Did you complain to them at all about it or just do a normal return?

I think if they know there's a problem they should deal with benchmade, not the customer.

Wait, did your knife come bent too Monger? So two customers received defective items? interesting. I've bought knives from Amazon before (the 940) and never had this problem. You should definitely exchange or return.

To hell with sending it to Benchmade. I would send it right back to Amazon, get a refund and then but from a reputable knife dealer. That's just me though.

you're right, back to amazon it goes after I fondle it for a little while.

it's a shame because it's a pretty nice knife otherwise. nicely centered, no play. kind of a lousy edge though, seen nicer edges on cheaper knives.

Yeah, I would definitely give up on Amazon (at least for the 710). You could find just as good prices from other online sources. Good luck.

Damn I ordered this knife a couple days ago from amazon, too late to cancel it. I'll let you know how it goes.

price was too good to be true I guess.

No...

I've ordered plenty of knives from there without a problem, including a Benchmade 710 and 940.
Send it back for replacement.
I have the option with amazon prime to send it back for free within 30 days, if you are worried about it, maybe you could wait until you receive the replacement to return the defective knife.

A lot of the woodworking tools I purchase have been bought through Amazon. I buy from Amazon, not an affiliate even if the cost is a little higher.

The reason I buy from them is;
#1 Price
#2 If there is anything wrong I can get a prompt refund or replacement without any hassles.

I am sure it was a disappointment to receive damaged merchandise. I am also sure if you give them the chance they will make it right and maybe something extra.

After trying the 710 in a knife store, I really liked it and wanted to have one. Since I have the Amazon pirme, so I went to their website and found that the price was pretty good on the satin finish D2 version. After 2 days of waiting, the package arrived and I soon realized that the tip of the blade is bended, I suck at taking pictures but you guys should be able to see it in the following pics. I returned this one and required an exchange, and in 2 days it arrived with the same problem, so I think all they have in stock now are blems, I wanna share this with those who are planning to buy this item on Amazon, go somewhere else!

Do you think that maybe you got the same knife back?

I'm wondering the same thing--it may have been returned, put back on the shelf, and then you were the first person to (re)order another one, so someone else grabbed the same box to ship out. All the same, still a great big :thumbdn: of a situation.

yes, the tip is bent. I'm almost certain it's the same knife.

Gads, it's like the single Christmas fruitcake that travels around being re-gifted... eventually this knife will be in everyone's possession that orders this model from Amazon.

:D

This reminds me of something that happened unrelated to knives. I ordered a movie from netlfix and I had been wanting to really see for awhile. Take it out of the envelope and it had a small crack across the first letter in the movie title. I sent it back as defective and asked that they send another. Long story short, they send that same damned DVD back to me 2 more times. Finally I held the old one until they sent a new one to ensure I didn't get the same one back. Took about 3 weeks to finally see that movie and turned out that it sucked. :)

Dude, I told you Girls Gone Wild: Mud Wrestling Addition sucked. :p

So this is happening with Spyderco knives too. They sold a Persistence that had some rusty liners and the screws were stripped out. There was another thread just today about more issues.
I don't think either Benchmade nor Spyderco ships knives this way. I do not doubt that when Amazon receives a knife back with a reported defect, they just shelf it and ship it off to the next unsuspecting customer. Kind of sad to see that they do that. Yes, you can usually save a few bucks if you shop them, but is it a real savings if you have to send the knife back and have to wait another week for it to arrive? Is it worth the disappointment and aggravation? I would always be willing to spend an extra $5, my peace of mind is worth it.

Weird, when I ordered it it was $116, now it's listed for $140...

Maybe I should ask for a replacement instead of a return.

Maybe they listed $116 until they got rid of their damaged knife, then raised it to $140 for the actual NIB ones. Maybe benchmade complained about the price.

If it goes back to $116 when they get my knife back I'll be pissed. going to keep an eye on it.
