Im not exactly sure what we can and cant link in posts so I will not post the link I saw on this.

Has anyone else seen the specs and pics of these?

I love my HEST/F milspec and these sound like a nice upgrade with a bearing, Ti frame, and all american made.

These are the main differences in the Urban from what I can tell and I like it.

  • American bearing pivot hardware. Stainless steel caged bearing pivot hardware allows for rapid deployment and effortless closing.
  • American aerospace grade titanium frame. A frame and lock made of U.S. made aerospace grade 6Al4v titanium in "battleship grey" heavy bead blast finish. Upgraded options include bronze anodized titanium or a three-dimensional Mr. DP pattern milled into the frame.
  • The world's finest U.S. forged blade steel. A blade forged from U.S. made S30V stainless steel. We are selecting a hollow grind for maximum slicing capability and to be shaver sharp. All finished using a soft stonewash vibration.

Im sure you can find it on google if interested. I know im in for one. :)

Looks intriguing. I always wanted one, but for whatever reason have been on the fence and not pulled the trigger. This might have pushed me off the fence. One thing that has always bugged me about DPX is their logo. Looks like it should be on a skateboard, not a knife

I felt that too. it has grown on me now and it doesnt really bother me any longer, but yeah, i still have to agree.

DPx is in knife business so I think it's strange they advertise that blades will be forged. Pretty sure they will be stock removal.

I'd like to know who the manufacturer is.

Compared to the current HEST/F the blade is shorter (2.9" vs. 3.25") and thinner (0.16" vs. 0.19). These along with the all titanium handle and relatively light weight of 3.35 ounces are major pluses for me.

+1 on that

It's pretty interesting to me that this came out. Did anyone else get the e-mail survey from DPX a few weeks (months?) ago? I filled it out and distinctly remember listing several times that the most important thing to me was a USA manufactured knife, and the next new knife they announce is a USA made knife, lol. Not sure if I (we?) had any influence, but it's kinda cool.

I'm really impressed by how quickly their Kickstarter is taking off, it's pretty remarkable how much money they've raised. May be a good platform for other makers/manufacturers to use in the future.

DPx has been planning on making most of their knives in the U.S.

Surprising how fast they sold out the sterile edition. The other two are still available.

The sterile looks really good.

If it doesn't have the skull on the otherside I might look for it

Only the Mr. DP Edition has the 3D skull.

You can actually see both sides of the Sterile Edition in post #10.

This knife looks so cool, sadly the "normal" version is sold out. I really hope they will make a normal run of these knives in the near future!

Strange to bang the 'US made' and 'US steel' drum so hard, as the HEST was made by the good people of Lionsteel in Italy. In NIOLOX BTW.

Do they still make the HEST there or is that a thing of the past, I wonder.

Never could abide the silly bottle opener position. Not on the rigid HEST nor on the folders.

Never cared much for the silly DP hype or the antics of the guy behind these knives either, but to each his own.

From what i know, they will make a production version later down the road with g-10 replacing titanium on the non-locking side.

I cut some rope to tie down a load that just happened to have a twisted steel cable in the center of it, and that pretty well screwed up this "badass" knife.

Would that screw up any other knife? Probably. But how's the customer service? It's been on it's way to and from Italy for the last 7 months.

Never again.
