DPx HEST/F URBAN

Is it just me or is the choil and plunge line a bit strange on the Urban? Looks like if they sharpened the choil to the back. Hope this is only on the prototype.

Pledged for the Mr. DP though :D
 
i'd probably have gone for the stars and stripes version IF i didn't already have a hest/f milspec. price does seem a bit steep for s30v considering a sleipner version is about half the price... it seems the only real upgrade vs the original is the bearings.
 
For some reason, I've really gotten attached to these DPx models. I know some of the features are perhaps a tad sales gimmicky (lol) but it really doesn't bother me. The 1/4" wrench is just a lanyard hole. The wire strippers are actually pretty good jimping. And the bottle opener notch doesn't really bug me, and I know some use it as a wave opener.

Even though I've no real "need" for a big overbuilt knife, these really feel good when they lock into place. I'm not a skull fan too much myself, but I ordered a coup,e extra clips and cerokoted them matte black so that was an easy fix.

Looking forward to my sterile urban.

**Farmboy - have you contacted Lisa to see what's up with your repairs? That really is unacceptable. I haven't followed too closely, but offhand I don't think I've seen very many issues with their customer service. Perhaps if you contact her and explain how long it's been, they might replace it for you. Dunno.

I agree that it's somewhat overpriced. In addition to the bearings it does have a lockbar insert. The old ones definitely had sticky locks. Another plus is keeping the blade length at just under 3 inches so that it's a legal carry in more places.
 
That Stars and Stripes model is admittedly pretty nice. I'm always a sucker for that sort of thing.
 
I switched from the Mr. DP to the Stars & Stripes, when it was introduced.

Another difference these KS models have is that both scales are made from Ti, while production models will have one side as G10. I don't think there will be any production models that have milled scales with Mr. DP or S&S.

Post #10 shows a knife clean on both sides. Post #11 clearly shows a logo on at least one side of the "sterile" version, so I wouldn't assume anything about the other side either.

The ghetto-ball-cap skull turns me off, combined with their marketing. I'm an American, and I even skated as a teenager in 1990s Los Angeles in my JNCOs and Vans. But I'm a grown-up now, and I put away childish things. And honestly, I just trust no-bullshit knives like my ESEEs to be as good a knife as I could ask for, and nothing more. Not a bottle opener, not a hex driver, not a set of wire strippers that, as someone who spent several summers and a couple years working for an industrial electrician father, I can't say that I can see working for anything. Nope, just give me a solid knife, please, and let it sell itself.

Who has received his Dpx Hest f Urban? I've seen that they are rolling out the 'Sterile' version. The Bronze and Mr. Dp (which I ordered) will follow. Very stoked about this one!
 
Today DPx shipped out the first 100 of the HEST/F Urban Sterile Edition!
 
It seems that is almost agreement on people's dislike of the skull logo. It's funny that two other comments in this thread compared it to skateboard graphics as that was my first thought as well. I have a HEFT/F and it's a great knife but I tried hard to remove the graphic on the clip to no avail.
