No one ever notices my knife, but I've received compliments on the SAK two layer sheath you gave me. Even had a guy try to trade me for it. No dice. My son gets it when I'm dead (and not before).

Hearing things like that makes my day .
All my leatherwork that I gift has a lifetime guarantee, so if it wears out or gets lost let me know .
Hope all is well with you and yours .

I'm not going to let this sour the whole idea of that thread. I have a bunch of knives that get no carry time and wouldn't bring much if put up for sale.
Even if this happens again, scammer, good karma will come our way.
It really pissed me off that the knife this scumbag promised to give was going to a 15 year old boy who would've appreciated the shit out of it. Heartless prick.
I straightened that out and am sending him an Endura cause he likes Spydie!! Kid got taste!!
Joe

Classy! You are a good man.

As I said before; you are a true gent!
If you lived closed by we'd be playing some 9 ball daily!
Or at least as often as the boss (wife) lets me haha

Apparently I'm the contrarian on this forum. My opinion, when you give something away, you give it away. If you have expectations on how it's to be used or not used, or kept, or that it can only be kept or given away to someone else, we'll, it's something less than a gift, and you're setting yourself up for disappointment. The Domino is what, a $200 knife, with custom ironwood scales, and you gave it away, to a total stranger, on a huge internet forum? Again, just my opinion, but I'd call that poor judgement.

It's based on an honor system and there were rules that he did not follow. He also put something up and did not send it off like he promised.

If you feel like the receiving party did nothing wrong, then I strongly disagree. He took advantage of the generosity of another member here. Dsun knew that Tasmaniac wasn't giving him a knife so that he could sell it for free money, but he took that gift with those intentions anyway.

Did you read the beginning of the thread?
If you think that it's no big deal, then not much anyone here can do.

Sure, I understand how it's supposed to work, but there's the way things are, and the way things ought to be, and I find things work best when your actions take both of those things into account. I'm a pessimist or a realist, or just an a**hole, depends on your point of view.

No, I'm not excusing Dsun's actions at all, the guy's a douche. But a guy like him is not going to jump on an old Case peanut with teakwood scales (I actually really wanted that one, but got there too late, love the anchor shield). I just think it was a bad decision to gift a knife that nice (and worth that much money) to a total stranger. Do your own give-away or pay it forward thread so you can more fully vet the transaction. It's very generous to give away a knife that nice, but again, in my opinion, it was a bad decision to offer it up the way it was. Looks like a bit of due diligence, searching Dsun's post history, would have raised some red flags. Trust but verify, isn't that what that old coot Reagan said?

Not trying to one up you or step on your toes or anything but I have a zt 550 lying around somewhere for the kid ... hell I could send it to you to send to him .

I think it was kind and generous and amazingly cool to gift a knife that nice to a complete stranger, but that is just my opinion. I guess I'm an optimist as I expect most people to have some integrity and honor. I'm betting that the majority of people participating in the pay it forward thread follow the rules and I'm glad that the OP isn't going to let one bad apple ruin his opinion of the pay it forward idea.

The dirty stinker (edited out original profane term), DSun, should be banned for blatantly disregarding the rules he agreed to when he accepted the pay it forward knife. Yes, some people are dishonest jerks; they're the same ones that will screw you over on the exchange and then end up with their names plastered all over GB&U. (One in particular comes to mind...different story for a different thread)

Tasmaniac, palonej, you and BF members like you are awesome and have all my respect and admiration. Not that that's worth anything. :D

Your respect is priceless LM and there are a LOT more great people here who deserve it also.
For every bad instance that gets posted there are 100 good ones that are not. Same with the Exchange.
This is a great place!

Spartan!!!! I'll hit you up with a PM!!
Most EXCELLENT gesture my friend!!
Joe
