Dual Survival

I like the the fact that it is two experts coming up with different ways to survive in a given situation, there is always more than one way to skin a cat. Cody has a couple of really good survival books and has a lot of really good ideas about minimalist survival. The bare foot thing is kinda goofy but seems to work on his home turf. Dave has the military and hunting background. If seems as though sometimes the hippie at one one with nature is a good tactic and other times the Marine hard charger tactic works better.

Worst mistake one poor guy ever made. Although I don't exactly get it what being like that about it. But then again I'm not from the US

I'm not following you, styx. Can someone translate?

Hasnt Canturbury's resume been called into question?

I think all of the "Survivor" shows have an element of fiction.

Is that just poor grammar or a negative hit on the military? I can't figure it out, I even said it out loud to make sure I wasn't misreading it. Your profile doesn't say where you are.....maybe its a secret?

I don't always agree with the techniques on the show but it is entertaining and they both do a good job of teaching the basics. Much better than the other survival shows out there by a far stretch.

No secret. I need to edit that because I was between 2 different places for quite some time. Actually I'm from Croatia.
And I know it's poor grammar and expressing on my behalf. Sry 'bout that. Too much talking with Mr. Walker.

Anyway to clarify - I've got a friend that used to be in the marines. Someone said that he was in the Army and all hell broke lose because of that mistake. And that's the part I don't get - why being so petty when comes to that. They all do the same thing - risk their a$$es so that ppl that haven't gone further than the first McDonalds can talk smack about them. And yes I am cynical because my grandfather, my father and my uncle are vets, and that friend that was in the USMC is one of the best ppl I met in my life and he helped me out when no one else had the guts to step in a big pile of $#!7

Croatia made some nice pistols that eventually became XD's.

Thanks for the clarification on the statement, it is tough to understand context via internet so I had to ask. Not sure why there is a dispute between Army and Marines. It is all in good fun I suppose but I don't do it. I have been active duty for a long time and still don't understand it.

I remember my Dad telling me that he was fairly pissed at Soldiers who were replacements and reinforcements on Peleliu. The one incident that stuck with me was he said he found a 1911 shot to slidelock and dropped in a foxhole, as much as you could dig a foxhole in that place. Left a bad taste in his mouth, the Army had retreated from that position and he was bringing ammunition and other supplies up in his Amtrac and was out looking around afterwards.

He never said anything bad about troops he didn't serve with, though. Just some of them on Peleliu and didn't really have anything negative to say about Soldiers on Okinawa he encountered, either. The Peleliu Campaign though, he was fairly miffed about some of the stuff he saw there.

damn I thought it's gonna be sooner.

Yeah, I wish it would be sooner. Dave just posted today on his Facebook page that he's gone for the next couple weeks filming. I'm assuming they'll get in at least two more episodes wrapped in that time. They've already got two down anyway. I'm assuming season 2 is going to be much longer than season one as well. But as I said, I don't anticipate we'll get any new episodes any earlier than Spring. If we're lucky, maybe late Winter, but I highly doubt it.

Each episode takes about a week to film. Then there's the time to edit the film, and then Paul Christie has to come in and do voice over for narration. This all takes a great deal of time and I imagine Discovery Channel is going to want to really hype season 2. Sadly, it could even be near Summer before we see anything new.

Regardless, I'll be watching.

Actually the difference between the HS200 and XD is only a bit in the looks. Everything else is the same. Hell they are even made in the same place lol.

And to the topic... yea it sucks that we have to wait for so long. But it's worth waiting for, at least to see those 2 go at it again

Moron?

Pretty tough words towards someone that walks through swamps and snow not even wearing shoes, without so much as a scratch.

It isnt the path that I would choose, but he seems to get along just fine.

He got a bunch of scratches, punctures, and cuts in the series...

Its been proven years ago that running barefoot strenghtens the bones, tendons and muscles in a whole different way. Studies have show that native/tribal barefoot runners run in a slightly different way than us, landing on the ball of their foot whereas runners with shoes land on their heels.

Wearing shoes in the civilized world for so many years have altered our way of running, so if we were to go barefoot now and run we'd end up with tons of injuries.

Nike sponsored a major bio-mechanical study and found out that training without shoes gave better results and less injuries. But since Nike makes shoes for a living, they couldnt recommend people to drop them so they marketed a line of running shoes and trainers called Nike Free. The footwear is designed to emulate the motion of running au naturel.

So going barefoot is not as moronic as some might think.

Maybe that's why Vibram came up with the Five Fingers shoes...

I hope soon, about the only thing on the tube worth watching along with deadliest catch and top shots and a few nature shows now and then. Got all these channels and everything suck's course, never was much of a tv watcher. I would rather be doing something outside

I watched the first episode of Top Shits thinking it would get better-it never did. I've got loads of respect for everyone competing/teaching on that show, but the producers seem like they're copying MTV or another sheeple station's formula. It's maddening! We aren't children, and shitty drama is something for teenage girls.

Since this thread got resurrected I figured I would post a picture of a couple true morons with an outdoor reality show. For the record I love Dual Survival and would love to meet Cody and Dave.

I like Dave. Have never watched his show though. In fact, I don't watch any of those shows. Nor do I watch 41 minutes knife reviews :D
