Dual Survival

As others have mentioned, I find that the shows tend to get repetitive. None the less, it is great entertainment with some useful information!

BTW I haven't even heard of the show until I saw it posted on here. I was able to watch episodes 3 and 5 on hulu but can't seem to get episode 4 to work?? Anyone know where I can find the first 2 episodes to watch online?

youtube. There's actually a channel called dual survival. and someone mentioned that there's an official site but I wouldn't know about that

I know there was a post not too long ago announcing this new show. But I finally got to see an episode yesterday. That hippie fella with no shoes is a moron. Especially since it was the moccasin infested swamp episode I was watching. Seemed like a cool show though. You guys liking it?

go back 1000 years in time :) and say that agian

Holy thread resurrection!

Just FYI, since this has been resurrected, season 2 is being filmed as we speak. Two episodes have already been wrapped up according to Dave.

Sweet, there's something to look forward to. I hope they focus a little less on the fact that Cody doesn't wear shoes though; I mean, that's fine if he wants to do that, but in almost every episode they had to remark on it in some way.

That's probably because it was the first season and they were taking into account some people might discover the show at any point.

I feel the same way that it's no longer necessary to focus on that, but it is a selling point of the show. It's most likely a reason why some would tune in.

Other aspects are why people continue to watch. :)

Yeah, and they still had a couple of episodes where he backed down a little bit and wore some kind of foot protection so that it wasn't effecting the overall filming too.

I liked the show--I didn't feel that the banter between them was too dramatic, but sometimes the editing of the show itself tried to make things seem way more dramatic than they were... You kind of have to expect those kinds of things though.

Overall though I really liked the show, and it's cool to see the two different survival types. I'm constantly finding myself going, "Oh, Cody/Dave was right," or, "Oh Dave/Cody is a dumbass," because they both have their ups and downs in the decisions they make in the shows sometimes.

Dave is definitely exciting to watch when they're hunting. I remember one time they smoked some kind of varmit out of a wall in Peru and the way he dispatched it was rather funny looking--not to disrespect the animal.

My family and I are huge fans of the show. My wife is a huge fan of Cody, and even said she'd like to check out his classes some time. So keep that in mind with the next comment...

Last show we were watching (I think it was the LA swamp episode actually) My wife looks up at me and said "ya' know....Cody's...like...the Bush Bitch...He always hangs out taking care of the home and hearth while the other guy is off hunting, gathering and killing stuff to bring for them...":D I thought it was funny. Maybe you had to be there?

I love the show, even though we enjoyed Les stroud too. I think Dual Survival is a bit funner though.

I've heard rumors of an episode where they were here in Alaska, like during break-up and had to call for rescue. Is that true? if anyone knows of such an episode, could you clue me in on it? From what I heard it took place in the same neck of the woods I often play in, so it would be interesting to see.

Thanks!

i dvr every episode and i don't remember that,i thought that the people on man woman wild had to call for an rescue in alaska, i'm not 100% on that though

Yeah, MWW called for extraction in AK, not Dave and Cody.

That's one thing I like about MWW above the other shows: twice now, they've had scenarios where one or both wouldn't have made it if it was for real -- no matter his skills.

Sometimes the "shit happens" factor is the overriding element.

I met Dave at the Indy 1500 gun and knife show a few months ago. He was a nice guy and spent time talking to everyone that wanted to listen. I especially like the episode where he gets honey from a bee hive and gets stung a whole bunch.

Excellent, I hope they get the 2nd season for Dual back on soon. There's nothing worth watching now.

Thanks for cluing me in on that. It was just one of those deals where people get to gossiping after a beer or two, and where I normally discount 90% of what I hear about that time, for some reason that one stuck with me.

I've never seen MWW, I'll have to look it up. From what I understand, it's not too surprising they had a rough time in that area. (if it's the one rumored) I think it's cool that they recorded the show. I hope I can find it now.

Thanks again, y'all!

The third or fourth episode aired this past week here. I like it so far. Gives good advice such as not to make stupid decisions and always try to stay calm. No running around, jumping over "volcano rock", wasting meat....Cody said one thing I strongly agree with. When you kill an animal in a survival situation you use EVERYTHING of the animal to full potential. Not just take a bite and oooooo another thing to jump off.....

Anyway. Good show, Cody must have leather for feet. Damn fine not wearing shoes.

I would love to go on this after reading more about the importance of NOT wearing shoes that often.

The one good thing about the show is that my wife enjoys the banter between them so she likes watching it. Because of that she has started asking "what If" questions and thinking about self reliance. No matter who does what on the show I thank everyone involved for creating a set of circumstances my wife enjoys to watch. I return she is beginning to take her head out of her fourth point of contact and paying attention to her own preparedness.

Excellent Point! My wife too has responded to the Man Woman Wild show and has started to consider 'her role' should the SHTF.

Take half-decent shoes back 1,000 years and watch people riot to get their hands on a pair of them.

This is a line of thought that I don't get. There is a difference between using old knowledge, some of it rare or forgotten by most people, and going native.

Case in point, people back then knew how to construct a fire better and knew the value of tinder and kindling more than a lot of people now. But how they actually started the fire was more primitive. Some people make the argument that someone a few hundred years ago would choose a fire bow and drill over a modern ferrocerium rod...what they fail to realize is, those people back then were also smart and didn't have a romantic view of tools. They would have scarfed up things like ferrocerium rods like mad.

Oh yea since this topic is active, does anyone know when the 2nd season will start. I saw sth about it breifly on discovery while i was in the states

Not sure, but they're filming now. My assumption is they'll probably make us wait until Spring next year.
