Dual Survival

I have never watched the show with Dave and Cody because I'm a cheapskate and refuse to get cable TV. I refuse to pay more than a buck a day for TV and it's way more expensive than that for "basic" cable now.

That having been said, I have Cody's Urban-based survival book which is an entertaining read and I would like to get his first survival book.

I don't have Dave's book but I have watched about a dozen of his YouTube videos and they always have something interesting in them.

Whatever the controversy surrounding Cody's barefoot ideas, I think it is wrong to put that idea out there for people that have not been doing what he has been doing for years. It's a dangerous thing and a turnoff to me. His feet are conditioned from years of that ideology being put into practice in the desert, etc., and if someone else does that because they think it's "cool," it could lead to a severe injury. If you step on a nail in your backyard or a piece of broken beer bottle in some creek, you can get that taken care of and in the grand scheme of things, it's no big deal. It can be a fatal injury in the wild.

Well, hell, Don, you can't even get Jerry Springer re-runs - that's a damn shame right there. Steal cable from your neighbors! Tony use to do that with his internet service. :D

My opinion is "what works for you works". The idea of the show is to show that there is not one way/style to do things. They both do things I would do and things I would not have thought about doing if I wasn't shown by someone like them.

I hear what you're saying, but anyone not smart enough to condition their feet before going barefoot in a potentially dangerous situation is likely to get hurt or put themselves in a bad spot whether they've watched the show or not. I don't think Cody's bare feet are going to be a huge influence in their potential to kill themselves.
