Hello all! Im looking to buy ANOTHER knife! As I still am a newbie I would like some help from the knife community. I want something that can take a beating (not saying it has to be the strongest knife in the world, but I want something thats gonna last), I also want something that has a thicker tip, 3.5-4.0 inch blade, something that can be deployed quickly, and a good steel. Not wanting to spend more than $200. However I don't want a triad lock. Thanks!:p:)

Benchmade 275 Adamas. Brand new $178 and can be found on the forums regularly for under $150. Just under a 4" D2 blade and very smooth.

Benchmade 810 is available in M4 and M390, if you want a tool steel or a stainless option.

I Love M4, hands down one of my favorite alloys. Easy to get screaming sharp, holds a working edge for quite some time, doesn't rust that quickly, and can take a polished or toothy edge depending on preferences (even though it works Great when left straight from a Coarse or Medium dmt plate).

Too bad about the 3.5-4.0 inch blade requirement - because I was going to recommend the No Time Off - tough little son of a and it will save you a lot of money :-)

This, hands down. Thick G10 handle, thick steel liners, thick D2 blade. The Axis may not be quite as strong as the Triad, but with the thicker stock and full liners I honestly think this knife, as a whole, is pretty much the toughest there is on the production market.

Heck, if they made the blade out of 3V it would be about as close to indestructible as you could make a folder.

If you can go down to 3.25", I picked the ZT 350 for a lot of the same reasons you listed.

I also forget to mention, I would like to EDC this blade so I wouldn't want anything over 4.0 ounces if possible..

Why don't you want something with a triad lock lol? It pretty much nails the term "durability"

The ZT is a big 3.25" blade with that wicked recurve too.

I'd probably grab an 0300 while there are still some on the market.

Not making this easy, are you? Okay, how about the H&K 14715? It's basically the Adamas' little brother, slimmed down for easier carry. Still very durable, very affordable and less than 1oz over your target weight.

If that doesn't work for you, maybe a Buck 830 Marksman? SKBlades is coming out with a limited edition in S35VN and G10 scales. I think the projected date for that is May and it should hit all your requirements.

I know you asked for a folder, but is a fixed blade an option?

For $200 you can get quite a bit.

Ive tried edging fixed blades before, and if I need something uber durable then i will carry a fixed blade, but I dont usually need all the strength a fixed blade offers..

Based on your criteria, the H&K 14715 Axis is your best bet. Phenomenal knife and just around $100 or less.

That's understandable, I figured that you g could get by with less weight of a knife and keep comparable strength.
