Durable folding knife

Benchmade 710 will hold up to anything you need to do with a knife and fits your criteria closely.

+1 for the Benchmade 710. That's a very celebrated and time tested blade that meets most of your requirements. My favorite edc ever was my Benchmade 551-1 full size Griptilian with AWT scales (6061 t6). Light weight, durable, perfect deployment, and it slid in and out of my pocket with ease. Very pretty too. You could spring for the 551-1 in 20cv, which would run you about $260 with the scales, or just go with the standard 154cm, which would only run you about $180 with the scales. Either would be an excellent choice for edc!

Why don't you want something with a triad lock lol? It pretty much nails the term "durability"

Looks like a nicer option he is looking for.

What about the Benchmade Griptillian G10? Is that a limited run? I already own a Benchmade mini grip and love it, but its a bit small. Maybe the larger size and upgraded handles and steel will be a good option. Any thoughts?

This is the knife you are looking for. Southern Grind Bad Monkey. 4" blade, Emerson opener for fast deployment, thick bladestock, full liners. Locks up rock solid and is an absolute beast. Plus its unique, not a run of the mill blade.

Well crap its a little more than $200, but I stand by my recommendation. It may be my all time favorite folding knife.

When you say durable, what does that mean to you? It will open and lock even when you abuse it like batoning etc...or that you can pry and stab into anything with the tip without breaking it... or it holds an edge well even when cutting things like dirty cardboard, and plastic, and even carpet or wood, possibly even the odd piece of soft wire...

Each means a different choice. ZT0300 is tough, but retention and prying not so good, I've found the Spyderco Farid K2 is a great durable heavy duty work knife, the 10V is thick enough to be pretty tough, and holds an edge very well.

the Benchmade 710 is my favorite folding knife and for general use will do anything a knife a should do. But I wouldn't use it to chop firewood.

I would like a strong tip, and something that holds an edge. Im looking at the Benchmade Griptillian g10. I have the mini grip and love it but the bigger size and upgraded steel pretty much sold me on it.

Stick with the standby s. The Military or the 710 will work well for you. The Griptilian with 20cv will also be a good choice.

The Military and 710 are both fantastic knives, but I wouldn't recommend either to someone looking for a strong tip. The sheepsfoot Grip would definitely be the better choice for that.

agree to couple of suggestions above: ZT0560/0561 or Benchmade 810. Or eat ramen noodles only for two weeks then buy a Hinderer XM-24.

i was going to suggest that exact knife. I picked one up recently with the sheepsfoot blade/ spydie hole, mostly because I wanted a stronger tip, and that thing is a beast! Feels a lot nicer and more sturdy with the G10 too.

Benchmade 710 does everything a folding knife should ever do.

its a bit big, and I live in southern lousiana so the summers are very hot = a lot of sweat and a lot of sweat= very rusty d2. Might get one eventually but its not what I'm looking for now.

Really? I really love my mini grip but its so small and I don't exactly love the handles. The full size grip g10 would fix both of those problems..

I live in NJ, and while not as humid as La, it does get quite hot and humid here (it doesn't help that I work in a fridge and I am physically acclimated to 38°-39°).
Due to tat, I tend to sweat quite a bit. I have carried my Becker BK24 (d2) for two years and have used it for everything since it can be easily cleaned; yard work, food processing, utility work, salt water fishing carry, put away wet and dirty and I have Very little patina to show for it and No Rust what so ever.
On top of that, I live on a peninsula with tidal salt water three block away on two sides and one block away on the third.

If you have any particular past knives in D2 that have rusted on you, I would Love to hear the reasoning behind it since I would like to avoid said circumstances.

Aside from that, it sounds like a large sheepsfoot grip is right up your alley.
They even offer it in the new steel and g10 scales.

Watch the exchange and you can likely find one for under $200.

The 20CV steel is a very nice upgrade too, and very corrosion resistance so it should work well for where you live. If you don't mind the Spydie hole instead of thumbstuds (I much prefer the Spydie hole) this sounds like it would be just what you need. I had a mini grip too and didn't like it at all due to the small handle and cheap feeling plastic. Love the full size G10 though. It hasn't left my pocket since I got it.
