Earl Sees the World!

Earl and I crossed into Canada yesterday morning! I thought we were in trouble when Earl declined to answer any questions from the Border guards, but when I explained that Earl was 80 years old, despite his youthful appearance, they let us through!!
Since it was New Years Eve, I offered Earl some Bubbly, Italian style given my heritage, but he said a little oil on his joints would do, and could he take a nap after his long trip?

He kinda skipped the celebrations last night, but was ready for a dip in Pacific (Burrard Inlet) waters this morning!

We live within walking distance of Jericho Beach, where you can see the downtown area (NNE), and the North Shore mountains (N). This is a great place to live!

Here is Earl and BF soaking up some sun on a granite boulder, along with one of my walking sticks, gleaned years ago on this same beach.

Well we are going back home to make a little dinner, and talk about Earl's next destination!
Back atcha later!!

Charlie that is cool that you showed "Earl" a good time in Canada.

From your pictures it looks like Earl drank your Bubbly, pee'd in the river, took a nap by the river, did a "selfie" by the river, carved some wood, met a friend and then took a Sun bath!

:D:D:D

Fun thread Mark. That was a risky trip to a Schrade fancier,he could get waylaid around all his relatives. You know blood is thicker than than most everything..

Earl may end up being the most well traveled barlow ever!
It seems that a barlow world tour wouldn't be complete without a romp in the Kentucky bluegrass.

Love it!

Charlie, you've set the bar for everyone else, as we knew you would! 😉 I suspect I'm going to be jealous of Earl by the end of his journey.

Great pictures of the Earl of Schrade, you really treated him like a king Charlie and it really does look like a beautiful place to live.

Thanks for the great post, Charlie! And for showing Earl an amazing time! It really is beautiful up there!!

I am greatly looking forward to how this thread will progress. Earl will have so many stories to tell as he travels the world!

O Canada! Not much snow on those mountains, yet. But Earl doesn't look like much of a skier. Those Canadian border guards are real softies. Earl better have his papers in order when he comes back to the USA! Thanks for all the pictures, Charlie!

EARL respectfully requests the chance to ride in a vehicle with, shall we say, low miles.

What does this mean, Sarah?!?! Did you get a new car for the new year?

Awesome thread! This is going to be a hoot to follow Earl's adventures. Charlie, great pics, looks like you treated Earl to a pretty good stop on his journey

Looks like Earl started the new year off right Charlie!

Vancouver is beautiful, and is our northern neighbor here where I live here near Seattle. I have a feeling he's going to be one extremely well-traveled fellow, and it will be very entertaining to follow him along on his journey.

Where in the world is Earl going next?

You really know how to show the Earl a good time, Charlie! And you absolutely live in a super beautiful place in the world.

I hope we get to see the "Where in the world is Earl" dance:D
I had the same thought yesterday, Barry! I know most probably have.

Reading this thread always makes me think of my great-grandfather. His name was Earl and he was a fantastic woodsman and hunter. I think that this Earl might like to take a nice long hike on the Appalachian Trail.

Nay, sir! First of all, as of last May I have my dream car, a 2013 Honda Fit:

More to the point: my responsibilities as Lot Flunky at a local car dealership include receiving factory-fresh vehicles delivered via car carrier. Hence, the above picture (the first '1' I've seen, which was a '2' by the time I had the vehicle parked).

The timing would have to work out, but I'd hope to give EARL a ride with an odometer view that few if any consumers ever see; after new vehicles pass through the garage to receive state inspection stickers, etc. (including a short road test), they have Miles on them.

:)

If Earl has any interest I would like to show him around bat country here in Virginia, maybe we could make the short trip to one of NASCAR's favorite playgrounds. Small town South West Virginia/North East Tennessee would do him so good....
