Well, folks, it has been too long. I have been neglecting this wonderful corner of the internet for far too long.
First off, I would like to give a round of applause and a tip of the hat to the wonderful members who have helped Earl around in his travels. This thread wouldn't be possible without the amazing people in this community, and to you all, I say, Thank You! When I started this thread over a year and a half ago, I didn't imagine it would grow to this extent! What a journey it has been, and what a journey it will hopefully continue to be! Now that I have said what I felt was needed,
TIME FOR AN UPDATE!!!
Earl has made his way back across the pond for a visit home. By home, I only mean the original location of his departure, as I no longer feel that I can lay claim to him. He is his own man, and belongs to the community. He will be tagging along with me for a few months as I have and will bring him to a couple special spots. Let's start from the beginning.
Earl arrived home with much more than what he left with, and hopefully picks up a thing or two along his future travels. Here he is upon arrival from Israel!
He felt right at home at the Esnyx shop, and started hangin' around with my old timey hand painted sign. Thanks again Barry AKA GunstockJack!
My daughter took a liking to him, and insisted on a picture with "Papa's knife"
He can hang out with me and the kids, but I don't let him get too close to my wife. I've learned that one the hard way, although he seems to have calmed down a little along his travels. You never know, though!
The first trip I brought him along to, landed us in Titusville, PA. The birthplace of many of Earl's latest kin:
Bill Howard immediately recognized the old dawg, and was happy to take a picture with him!
Same with William Howard!
Earl immediately spotted one of his brothers in Charlie's knife display and insisted on a picture with them:
He also was glad to meet Randy Bell, GECs engineer:
Derrick Bohn, albeit unfamiliar with Earl the traveling knife, was happy to share a moment with him, and was fascinated to hear his tale!
He also met Rob, AKA The Apostle P on Youtube, who was also intrigued by his story.
Earl also had the pleasure of meeting some fellow forumites! Here he is with Dan Parke:
And Brian Grassi, AKA Mr.BadExample:
Earl felt right at home with the good folks over at the GEC rendezvous, and immediately started goofin' around.
Here is a picture of Charlie taking a selfie with Earl:
Then I took a selfie of Charlie taking a selfie with Earl:
And then Rob took a selfie of James(Dr. Mabuse), who took a selfie of me taking a selfie of Charlie with Earl!
Once the rendezvous wrapped up for the day, we headed out with a group of good folks to a Mexican joint and grabbed some tacos.
Finally, we drove back to Ohio where James so graciously hosted us in his home. Thanks again, my friend!
As he is wont to do, Earl cracked open a cold one to wrap up the evening. All in a day's work!
Here is where the tale rests, for the time being. I am terrible at remembering to take pictures, as I meant to take many at the picnic and more around the factory. I'll try and make it up to you fine folks with a tour of my home town, Sarasota, and some detailed photographs of Earl's home, the Esnyx shop!
I have one more trip to make with him before I send him on his way. This November we are visiting a couple of awesome guys in Shelburn, IN who have been wanting to meet Earl. Now THAT will be a trip!!
Stay tuned for more of Earl's travels!
