Easy Openers

Wow....

I mean WOW!! each and every one of you - thank you for posting your collections is a pure delight when you share these phenomenal examples- it inspires me massively.
I really want to name names- but there's many in this Thread.

Federal Knife Co. Made By the mighty Camillus in the 20's, unless someone reproduced these at a later date- which I have not seen at all - so at nearly 100 years old- this is in outstanding condition- I am sure unused. We talked about older Wood when viewing Rob's fine Cattaraugus Jack - this is another example of gorgeous Cocobolo

I have to spend quite some time in catching up with photographing my knives, EO Camillus...

I was speaking to our friend Herder about this Knife, I have never seen too much of these, very interestingly Charlie your Board that you are restoring has a Lockwood Bros "Cold finger Knife" on it.
Charlie - yours a single bladed model, mine a double bladed model, interesting seeing the year on that Board, your knife shares the same registration number as mine- I think your serial number reads 64115 ( not 64116 ?) I cant quite make it out- if it is a 6 - it must be because of the single blade perhaps. Great seeing that.

I like the very old style Lockwood stampings and etches( I presume Acid Etching and not stamping?) on the Blades- yet extremely plain handles......

What I would call a perfect example of a Easy Opener Knife - a purpose built worker for the gloved hand, unfortunately not handled in Stag 😭, imagine that! Don't you just love the grind of the Spey and the Swage work to boot!

I like owning this knife of difference.

A better photograph of the Boker - Top in post 63 above- gives you the idea of what better photographs do to actually give a Knife the justice the workmanship truly deserves...

The good Ol' Camillus Easy Opener - I would LOVE to have a dollar for everyone of these Knives produced, I don't think there would have been a more prolifically produced Jigged Bone easy Opener ( and they all have nice Bone!! )

The ever popular Beer Scout Knife, a nice gift from my friend afar !

I am having a terrible time trying to find photos of my Early Sheffield Hunters / Naval Knives etc. so I am giving up on that one for now, I do have a few more Easy Openers on their way to me - not sure when I get them though.
I am sure I have more Easy Opening Knives elsewhere - so a hunting I shall go in a few days time!

Here is an Easy opener of sorts and of age, I have this somewhere- but where I am not sure- an early Sheffield made ( and I am guessing - your help here please Herder) a double easy opener? usually notches in handles I wouldn't class as an Easy opener - or all of my scouts and most HJ's would be in here- but this one has considerable easy opener notches where I think brings it over the line? if not I shall remove it- please let me know Herder :)

Thought to be a Joseph Rodgers - this is a smaller Knife I think from memory under 3 inches closed with wee thumb Studs carefully slivered on.

Gorgeous Pearl you can almost hear firing away...

Glasgow on the stamping- I would have to dig it out and revisit to get more information, the stamping information from memory was more the Merchant or what have you rather than the Maker - but like I say I need to revisit this ( especially with the patent stamping )

No.6411S as you can see, Duncan!! I like the blades and etches on yours; very nice!!
Mine has the "real pampa knife" around a big ridiculous bird, etch!! Hard to see!!
Simple spear blade.
You have posted some great ones, above!!!! As have several others!! What a great, enthusiastic thread!!!

Nice Pullett Knife Dincan 😎👍

I'm overwhelmed with the wonderful contributions of so many fine and interesting examples from everyone, thanks all!!!

black mamba, nice example and you bring up a good talking point about what might constitute an easy open model. In my humble opinion, a folder with a small notch in the handle next to the nail nick on a blade is not necessarily an "easy open" model. Unless that handle notch is larger enough to actually pinch the blade with a thumb and finger, I would call it an "easy access" rather than an "easy open" model.

Texoma, more nice examples.

Charlie, as usual, you continue to amaze all of us with so many fantastic examples in any possible category!!! From the daddy Russell to the small military group to some really off the wall examples, thanks for the visual tour.

Stelth, can't go wrong with an acorn shield.

Joeradza, neat to see those metal skeleton frames included in the mix.

jmh33, nice outdoors shot.

Hibou Canne, a most useful cap lifter model.

Will Power, some great examples nicely presented.

Markeologist, nice group shot of some modern classics.

Tom K, good assortment, and they certainly are easy to use.

Dan, beautiful old examples from Keen Kutter.

Primble, some nice classics among your collection.

Sacto, great stag on that GEC.

Travman, beautiful wood on that custom.

Badger28, fine old navy model.

Duncan, wonderful collection of many great examples my friend. I'm still digging for information on that "Cold Finger" that both you and Charlie had shown.
Your pearl Sheffield-made folder with the tabs on the blades is a very interesting example of an easy open knife. That design was patented by W. W. Pellett in 1892. Enclosed is a patent description.

Apologies for my poor memory, I completely forgot about this. I'll try and remember to look for it tomorrow! Sorry ☹️👍
I'm sorry M marantz , I'm afraid I've not been able to find the couple of Trim Trios I have :( I stopped counting when my knife collection passed 1000 about 10 years ago, and I know where most of them are, but the TT doesn't catalogue easily, and they're probably just tucked away in a drawer somewhere. I see them fairly often, but don't usually buy them. Sorry about that
