How come when I read the post here about ebay it is always the same thing?? counterfeit knifes on ebay. I got ripped off on ebay. it seams that everyone here talks about ebay but yet I have not Sean 1 post that was a positive about ebay. how come people are still dealing with them if they are that bad?? is that the only site on the net selling knives?? why not just buy from another dealer or member here on this site instead.

People only post the bad experiences. With a little bit of caution, eBay can be a great place to find good knife deals.

i have used ebay for about 3 years and very rarely gotten a bad deal or screwed over , in fact i buy a lot of new old stock knives not made anymore that you can't get anywhere else , and when i have had a problem , it is almost always solved pretty quick , you just have to know what you are buying and buy from people with good feedback , and you can get better deals on new common things that cost more elsewhere - i have to say i really like ebay.

ok if you say so. but how come I see a lot of post on what a great deal they got on a knife but it is somewhere else. they don't mind bragging about it??

I've gotten excellent deals off of ebay. As with anything in the real world, buyer beware, and do your research BEFORE you buy, not after.

you are the first people that I have read about good buys on ebay. I have a sellers account there but I refuse to sell there. I mainly deal with switchblades and I don't take paypal. I am glad that people are having good buys on there site.

I have bought about 300 knives on ebay. While they haven't all been great deals I have always received the knife that I paid for. If I pay too much then that is my fault, not theirs.

True. I've bought plenty from ebay over the last 10 years, and I have never had one problem. Haven't bought much from there in the past two years though.

Richard, I've heard you complain about ebay and paypal before. If I were you I would just forget the place exist, and never go there again. There are other ways to buy/sell a knife.

Someone once told me when a person has a bad experience they are likely to tell everyone they know, when that same person has a good experience they only tell a couple people. We as customers, expect things to go "right" most always. It's human nature I'd say. When things go wrong, it differs from our ingrained expectations so much that we make it a point of conversation.

I've had dozens of transactions on on eBay, all of which have been good. The key is to stick to sellers with thousands (preferably multiple thousands) of sales and 99.7% or better feedback. Its when you buy from some goofball with 3 sales, and a pic of his great knife laying on a nasty bath towel, that one can get into trouble.

I have yet to have a bad experience on ebay. I had a close call when I ordered an item then realized it was coming from hong kong, it took 5 weeks to arrive but it finally did and was in perfect condition. There is one knife seller on ebay that I have bought several knives from that ended up being a 2 hour drive away from where I live so that worked out great :)

I think I bought off of ebay about 20 years ago and I have not been back there since. when I do sell a knife I refuse to take paypal only money orders. I have been doing that with paypal about the same time.

Ebay is great. I have about 300 transaction. Paypal is great so long as you ship with tracking to a confirmed address you are protected 100%.

I'd rather buy from the exchange here, but sometimes the exchange does not have what I want. So, I look on ebay. I've been doing business on ebay - both buying and selling - for a longer than I can recall. During that time, and tons of items bought and sold, I have had one bad experience and I got that one resolved. But ebay isn't for everyone. You have to be careful about what you buy and who you buy it from. For example, I recently bought 3 different Case Peanuts in a 24 hour period from ebay all of which were exactly as described and delivered promptly. None available here and a gifted 'nut from a great forum member prompted me to want to get a few more. No issues, all went well. But I bought from solid dealers that had too much too lose to try to shaft a buyer.

And Paypal is a lifesaver. Love using them. No offense, Richard (you seem like a nice, solid guy), but I wouldn't buy from someone who required a MO. Way too much trouble for me to drive the 15 miles one-way to the nearest place that I can buy a MO. But Paypal? Quick, easy and safe to use (if you use it properly).

As RevDevil said, "Someone once told me when a person has a bad experience they are likely to tell everyone they know, when that same person has a good experience they only tell a couple people". That is exactly true. Just from the sheer volume of stuff that goes through ebay, I'm sure that some have had bad dealings and post about it. Those of us who have had good experiences tend not to mention it.

So, just my opinion. We all have one. ;)

Honestly, eBay protect buyers more than seller. Buying one eBay is pretty safe. If seller really sells you a fake, you can always get your money back easily. As for sellers it's tougher since eBay takes roughly 18%.

eBay to me is sort of like a online Garage Sale. You sell a dollar, eBay + paypal take 18 cent. Now with the additional of final value fee on shipping cost....they are taking 20%

Out of hundreds of eBay transactions, I have had only three or four problems and those were all promptly made right.

Ebay's been around 18 years. Paypal for only 12 years.

That said, eBay is what it is. Some good and some bad.

Use it or don't, it's just another option. For knives, not one of the better IMO, especially if you don't know what you're doing.

But haven't had a bad experience myself...

You've shown agitation with them in many threads, yet you haven't used them in close to 20 years.

I realize you may be trying to help us by bringing them up often, but we realize what Ebay and Paypal are, and most of us are happy enough with them.

I rarely even look there anymore, but its not because I've ever had a problem with them.
