Ebayer listing items not in stock.

That pretty much mirrors what happened here. After the advertised delivery date came and went, and I hadn't even had an "your item has shipped" message, I tried to contact them. First attempt was ignored, second attempt was ignored and the listing was "ended", then finally after a third message, they told me they didn't actually have the item, and it would be weeks before they did. I requested a refund and it was ignored until I opened a dispute with Ebay, then they gave me the refund.

:thumbdn: no excuse for misleading a buyer with a non stock item fallowed by lack of communication. Thanks for the heads up.

E-bay attract many less ethical sellers because of it's anonymity. Sure, good ones are there too. But I prefer to just deal directly with the good ones and let them save the 10% e-bay fees.... just a thought

I was just about to place an order with this seller but have been dragging my feet for some reason, now I know why I felt this way. Thanks guys!

I agree with if you don't have an item don't list it. What makes me the maddest is when they don't respond to emails inquiring about shipping or refunding. That's the poor customer service that I can't tolerate.

Wow, what a sorry excuse for a seller. A big :thumbdn: to Belote.

I bought from them before with no problems, I even got some freebies out of the deal.

Sucks to here the OP didn't have the same luck.

I have had this same thing happen with several sellers. It really pisses me off to waste my time on these auctions. They do on both the auctions and Buy It Now items.

Some of the best Ebay sellers continue doing it. One (poor_fish) banned me from their auctions when I gave them a Neutral feedback pointing out that they should not list an item for sale that they did not have in stock. I had to laugh at that effort--like I was going to be bidding on their auctions anymore!!

Doing it on "Buy It Now" listings is bad enough, but on auctions?!?! Amazing what some people will do to make a buck.

If you happen to remember, would you mind naming the other sellers who are holding auctions for items they don't actually have in stock? It might save others from the hassle of bidding on such auctions down the road.

I've only had good dealings with belote, but he charges too much for international shipping, so it's been a while.

I personally take pics of each and every item I put up for sale and only sell what I have on hand. I'd be pissed if I bought something on eBay and the seller later told me it wasn't on hand.

a buddy of mine ordered a knife from BELOTE, and it said six available. Paid, got delivery confirmation, and surprise had NONE in stock, but STILL had 5 for sale. I have NO IDEA why BELOTE would do this.

i have bough knives in the past from belote, and each time it has been great, i wonder whats going on.

I bought several items from belote last fall, all at the same time. Two of them were out of stock, and he emailed me within a day of the end of the auction and let me know. He offered to refund the money or I could have my choice of any other items that were the same prices. I picked out a couple other knives and got the package a few days later.

That's the best service I've ever gotten from any ebay business.

Everyone has bad times occasionally. I'm not perfect and I don't expect anyone else to be. I'd give him the benefit of the doubt.

I suppose that everyone who's blasting him has never made a mistake or f'ed anything up in their business or job, huh?
