EDC a 4-inch Fixed Blade (e.g., Bradford Guardian 4)? How to Carry Comfortably?

I like small fixed blades, mostly Childress neckers in kydex that have a have a pocket clip, fits just right in the LFP. Stays hidden except for the top of the kydex. I want to try carrying horizontal carry, pull from left with right hand, But in a business environment I don't think that would work. Horsewrite makes nice horizontal carry sheaths, in leather that would look at home in Houston, maybe with a Stetson? I guess not everyone in TX where's a cowboy hat, huh? :D The pick of the izula above with the clips looks like a winner to attach to a belt. I have an Enzo necker in kydex I would like to try also that way.

@boxer 45, any way to see the opposite side of that Safewood Gear set up on the Izula?

Thanks, I would think IWB would be uncomfortable, if the handle jabs my fat belly when I sit down or bend over to pick up something. Can that one be angled outside the WB for cross draw?

It is angled. I weigh about 240 and it is comfortable to IWB. If you've never IWB something (like a pistol or knife) it may take a little time to get used to, give it a week. If there's any sharp edges sand them down.
Ive done multiple blades this way including a larger ESEE 3 like I posted a few pages back, albiet under an untucked shirt. Its no problem.
Move it around from 2-4:30 o'clock and see what works best for you.

Good thing about the Izula is you can remove the scales or use paracord or with scales.

There are other knives Artimus makes sheaths for using that setup.

Tops ALRT series is another option. In the pocket or on the belt.

that's a damn good idea!! may be getting one of those or maybe try to make one from Kydex myself?

the one advantage seems to be the flexibility which some see as a negative? but it seems it will bend to the contour of the leg when sitting which would be a good thing to me. Kydex is stiffer and wouldn't bend . pricey but if it works its worth it.

I think a firearm would still print but for knives/flashlights/clips it looks pretty good and you can adjust the depth of attachment of whatever sheath your using

I've made several kydex sheaths and holsters myself, and had thoughts of making my own. Really, it came down to time. I wear Dickies at work sometimes, regular dress slacks at others. The lighter fabric of the slacks, and more standard pocket dimensions, work well with the pocket shield. You can trim them to fit, to some extent. My decision was based on: ~$20 for a sheet of kydex shipped, and my time and mess cutting it to size with a Dremel or hot-knife, then drilling/cutting the mounting points. All in all, $25 from RCS was not that bad a deal. For awhile they had a bundle of 3 shields for $30. I should have bought 2 bundles! :D

Thank you! I have always thought about trying out an edc fixed blade but don't really like neck knife or IWB that much. This is the only way I would edc a fixed blade. Spartan blades also looks like a quality brand.
No problem, spartan blades heat treats there blades fantastically. I love sharpening it because it just makes hair disappear.

If it were me, and you’re set on Guardian, I’d go with a G3 (or 3.5 if it fit) with flat scales, a kydek sheath, and keep it fully concealed in my right front pants pocket. This is the least visible set up I can think of in your situation.

I have a G4 with 3D scales. I really like it, but I can’t think of any way to conceal it in your environment.

My only other idea is to open carry a nice wood handled knife (DIW, Rosewood, Blackwood, etc.) with a longer blade in a nice leather sheath (vertical belt carry). Kind of a large gentleman’s fixed blade concept. I’m really partial to the Fiddleback Forge Sneaky Pete, Monarch, or Asp in this role.

Anything in between is going to be obvious and look like your trying to hide something, which will make people nervous. I’d either fully hide it or not hide it and have it be more decorative.

I was just going to suggest something similar and bam there it was.

Just another thought.

that's my problem as well. I get an actually sore from the chafing and such. and that's with clothing between my skin and knife. that's why I am starting to move towards pocket carry more and more

Ulticlip now makes a smaller version of the clip. two lengths for the "attachement" plate as well. I have the short plate small version and the bigger one like shown. go for the small version for pocket clip carry. they do offer some room for adjustment but you may have to drill an extra hole in the sheath to get two attachment points . if you try to use only one it will pivot . really need two screws. also if the opening of your sheath is far below your pocket lip resheathing will become tedious. I found I had to make a new sheath that came further up the knife so that resheathing was easier and I didn't risk cutting my pockets or myself.

that's my experience others may have different results. Ulticlip is worth getting though. and that sucker will not let go once its locked down. even releasing the lockplate it still doesn't want to let go easily. Its a good product.

Thank you sir! cbach8tw cbach8tw It has worked well for me for years. Buckle was a custom one my buddy had and we had to make the belt with a custom taper for it to fit the buckle for him..
