Edc fixed blade

I don’t know if you do a lot of woodcarving, but if you do, I have found nothing to surpass the LT Wright Boattail. It excels at woodwork. I carry it 24/7 and use it for many hours each day. Fantastic option if you want a good woodcarving knife as an EDC.

I also agree that the Ruike Hornet is a great knife at a great price, and the sheath allows you to carry the knife vertically, horizontally, or canted.

Good choice on the Armatus sheath. Here are pictures of my 3.5 Tanto with and without its Armatus. (I've trimmed the bottom from one off those soft loops since taking this picture.)

BTW, that multi-direction, rotatable, locking clip on the Hornet is wonderfully convenient. It is used on several Sanrenmu-made knives including stuff they've done for Ruike and Real Steel. I'm actually about to get a kydex sheath made for my Ruike Jager and I'm sending in the clip to make sure I can keep using it.

White river knives have been good to me. Caper and backpacker. The sheath from them offers a lot of different positions to carry. I of course added my own. One with soft loops and one with an ulticlip for pocket carry or inside the waistband carry.

Lots of ways to carry the M1 as 115Italian said. It would make people nervous for me to belt carry my M1 Caper, so I took the clip off and slide the OEM sheath in my front pocket. I sit all day at work and don't notice the M1 in my pocket.

Of course, because I sit all day and don't carry a knife for self defense, I don't need a quick draw. But, I can easily pull the M1 out of the sheath while in my pocket and it leaves the sheath in the pocket.

I love my LT Wright’s. For the money, they are hard to beat.

I have the White River backpacker with Black Burlap Micarta and their Sendero Pack. Both would fit the bill IMO.
I really like the feel of the Bradford 3.0 but every time I handle it, I knick my index finger since the choil edge is sharpened. Haven't been able to handle the 3.5 yet.
I'm also a fan of LT Wright, but a little more maintenance might be in order since most of his knives are high carbon vs stainless. I've been eyeing Dave Mary's work and may have to pull the trigger one of these days, same with a Winkler.

I hear ya. You can find some LT Wright’s in aeb-l, 3v, and now I see he has magnacut. I have his 3v with zero rust in issues and I live in South Carolina a mile from the beach.

I recently (finally) picked up an RMJ Utsidihi and couldn't be happier. That'll probably replace most other fixed edc options I currently have, but I'll always try to use everything where I can.

I've been looking at the Fallkniven TK6 for a while, so there's that. And the new Houge Extrak looks interesting...

I don’t recall anyone saying anything about self defense in this thread except for you. Maybe I missed something though.

Sorry. I must have confused the term, "Tactical Knife" with the anticipated of possible violent interpersonal conflict.

I just rediscovered my Ontario SK4 the other day, and I think it would make a great edc. I never really carried it simply because I either wanted a more ergonomic handle or went with a knife that fit my needs more.

That said, while they are discontinued, you can still find them. I bought mine from Spark's shop a couple of years ago. No nonsense and practical. Just a slab of 154cm with some G10 scales. The sheath rides fine as is for my needs, but being MOLLE it could easily be fitted with a clip on the backside without out too much cost or effort.

What I like about it:
Simple and nonthreatening
Stainless and shouldn't rust too easily
Nice practical spear point shape with the tip pretty much dead center of the knife.
Nice and thin.

What I don't like about it:
Man, it's flat. It's not uncomfortable but if you want a more tube shaped and hand filling knife, this isn't it.

Bonus point:
The sheath fits my ZT 0180 fixed blade. The 180 had two things going against it when it came out: it's pretty damn chonky and heavy for a 4" blade if bombproof, and the sheath SUCKED. Big ol clunky loud Velcro monstrosity that would have been fine fitted to a 6" survival blade but was overkill for something like a 4" blade.

Why I don't carry the SK4 or 180 much:
I just prefer the way one of my Himalayan Imports JKM-1s ride better.

Ive been on the fence with amtac blades. I was looking at the northmanX and the minuteman. The price is what has me on the fence. From your experience, is it overpriced or justified

i Think it’s worth it. You get a training knife and the sheath is top notch. It’s got a fold in hidden pocket and a fire sta and the knife is m90 and comes very sharp. The Northman, at least, fits perfectly in your pocket and you don’t even know it’s there.
