EDC II Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

The Trident gets a really bum rap around here and after owning one for some time, I think it's undeserved. I've owned several SOG folders over the years and gotten rid of all of them save for a Flash II and Twitch II, both of which always come back for some reason. The Trident is the first and only SOG that I didn't feel the need to sell later on. The lockup isn't perfect (I haven't owned a SOG folder whose lockup was) but it's close. Considering the materials it's made from, it's quite solid. I wouldn't attempt to cut a refrigerator in half with one, but for everyday tasks, it's great. I love the blade shape and grind and the handle is really comfortable. Lastly, I don't like the silly cord cuter notch (at all!), nor the goofy SOG-logo'd deep carry clip, but other than that there isn't much to dislike.

Anyway, there's a rant for ya. Great blade choices there, Adrstout!

Beautiful and unique. Which knife is that?

Thanks! It's a Higonokami handmade in Japan purchased at hardware store in San Francisco's Chinatown. Superb friction folder, razor sharp and only $15.00 bucks. A quick Google gets you the history and origin of these badass little pocket knives. I always get compliments when I bring it out, more so than my high end knives.

I will once again try to make it through the day without my Southard.I have not been successful yet,the Southard always finds its way into my pocket at some point during the day.I don't know why I even try.

Is it a Huntsman? Or Climber? I'll bet by the Hunstman, but i cannot see the saw.

I know the SOG knives have a bad rap around here. I got this one as a gift and I really have to say I like it. I have EDC'd it for nearly 7 months. The last month or so it has been relegated to back up knife duties behind the kershaw shown.

The SOG and the Kershaw fill pretty much the same role. I only carry both because I can  I do like the deep cover clip as it keeps in more discreet in my job-I work retail-while still allowing an easy front pocket carry position. I wish it was easier to grab since I have the involve the clip in the draw. The logo is kind of stupid. Also, I agree with the cord cutter being stupid. Why not just use a knife like a knife to cut cord???? I disabled the safety on mine anyway so I don't plan on using it. The Kershaw clips under the flap of one of my cargo pockets and I use it for most jobs that I don't want to put the SAK through. My SAK is usually what I use for small jobs because it really draws no looks what-so-ever.

Sorry Jack. It was directed at the general population, not just you. Lots of folks are unmindful of exactly what they are quoting.

No need for an apology on your part Frank, I know it wasn't aimed at me in particular, but it's a fair point. Sorry again, and I'll try to be more mindful in future

Used my Bladeforums 2011 knife to help me make a popper for Charlie's giveaway :)

Later, I used my Case Medium Stockman to further sub-divide a cigar box I got the other week. It already had 2 lift-out sections, so it was a very simple matter to add some more divisions, making it ideal to store some of my small knives. I'm covered for the small, medium, and most of my larger traditional folders now. Just need to find something better to keep my fixed-blades in.

Used my Queen to slice some onions to go with a couple of burgers (burgers were out of the freezer :o ) for lunch.

Thanks for the added detail! Did you try disassembling the Trident in order to remove the safety switch? I read in another thread that you super-glued yours and I was wondering if that was done in lieu of opening the knife or because the safety can't be removed without adversely affecting functionality. I detest the safety. It comes on occasionally without me engaging it and ruins my otherwise marvelous opening flourish. ;)
