Left the folders at home today... did not have much need for a knife today as much as I did a file and an eyeglass screwdriver and thankfully, had my Leatherman Surge with me too. The diamond file is really nice for touching up flat ground blades and have been working on the old Jonsson Mora I was packing.

Now that's an impressive sight. The little brook looks so harmless on its own...

I can already see one of Sarah's future foster kittens, named THE STRID: Harbinger of dooooom. Preferably a fierce little black one :D :devilish:

:D

Thanks Jack. It was good stuff.
There was 1 line in the article about The Strid that jumped out, "...100% mortality rate...".

Yeah, I think I might forego trying to leap it! There are a lot of dodgy currents on that section of the river and it does have a bad reputation. About 10 years or so ago, I was just recovering from a broken leg, having spent 6 months on crutches and been off them for a few days. A guy I used to know drove me out to Bolton Abbey, where the river was in spate as it was March. About a mile downstream from The Strid the river is quite wide and there's a line of stepping stones, with the river level right up to the top of them at the time, and starting to cover them. The stones are paced a way apart so there's a good stride between them and you have to jump slightly between a few. My friend, whose from the area, set off across them with me behind, and was recounting stories about all the folk who had drowned. I think he was trying to get me to chicken out, and kept looking back at my footing with a malovolent gleam in his eye. It was a bit awkward as my recovering leg didn't allow me to jump between the slippery stones, but I have long legs and made it across in good time. He seemed quite disappointed I hadn't got soaked. Odd behaviour for a Church of England vicar!

Used the Lloyd to cut open some bags of mulch and, er, well, composted bovine fertilizer:eek:, I had a moment of contemplation about that one, using an ivory handled knife for gardening, so I decided to cut some irises for my wife to make amends :)

Awww :)

The really great part is that when I first read Jack's post on Monday, I immediately added "Strid" to my ongoing list of potential kitten names. :D

Hmmm, maybe brothers: The Strid and The Stig.

In related news, Stiddy and Harig are on their way as of this morning, along with their siblings Pemberton and Dessie.

And, to keep on-topic, I used the pointy end of my mini copperhead's clip blade to pierce packaging and set up a tiny bottle of KMR (Kitten Milk Replacer) for my newest little guest, Claire.

(She arrived already named, and it's a good one, but-- we'll have a Pikelet yet, Jack. ;))

:)

Fantastic! :D

Thanks for the update on the kittens P :)

My new GEC Bullnose with black delrin got its first use today, but nothing major. Just some plastic wrap and plastic straps at work. No knives allowed at work so I have to use a smaller knife and be discrete about it, but I couldn't resist giving it a small trial run. My Boys jack knife still remains my work knife. But my Bullnose is going to see some apple and pear cutting today for sure. Apples and pears to go with a glass of Jameson Special Reserve on the rocks. A good day off:) That would make for a nice pic to add to the thread, I really need to buy a camera next paycheque.

Today I've got the TUFF (as usual LOL!...) tacti-opi #12 and tacti-soddie JR.:thumbup::thumbup: :D

Czechmate, I really like what you did with that 12. Thumbs up!

Thanks G! I really like the feel of the handle now and it allows three different grips now that are quite secure; forward using the locking ring as an index finger rest, middle using all four finger grooves and a back/rear grip using the end of the handle. I plan on taking it out on some trail walks to test out it's chopping capabilities... :D
