Decided to give the Para2 a well-deserved rest when laying out tomorrow's gear... then I saw FriarPhenn's sibling Spydeys and was consumed by jealousy. Gonna have to get a good shot of the PM soon!

From right to left and in order of decreasing concealment: My well-worn CS Urban Pal, my much-sprightlier beadblasted Cryo II, my peanut Imperial jack, and an old beater lockback I've fondly dubbed "Stainless Steel Japan".:D

You weren't joking. Hard to find any traditional slip joint with a bottle opener and single blade. Any other suggestions? Don't see anything GEC or Case available.

Google "gec crown lifter" or "gec cap lifter." I found one of the crown lifter #15 fairly quickly from knivesshipfree.

Picked this up as a "catch and release". Looked like good ergos, but the full-sized Cyclone is a little big for me.

Only problem is... I'm having trouble getting myself to go through with the "release" part. :o

I'm sure everybody here knows the feeling.....

This is exactly correct. I've cut myself twice in exactly the same spot. Both times fondling the knife while in deep thought and accidentally gripping on it too tight. The closed blade edge is very close to the edge of the handle scales.

Thanks for backing me on that! I was pretty certain it was that issue, but I'm glad there is further evidence.

I've gone back and forth on a sebenza. I have some pretty nice knives, but no folders quite at that price. Ive always had a hard time justifying the price and assumed they were a bit of a cult following type knife that everyone wanted just because they read how everyone else had one. This really turns me off though. That's a pretty awful design flaw on a $400 knife.

Seriously don't let that turn you off from the knife. There is a reason that the Sebenza shows up almost constantly in this thread, as well as nearly every other category in this forum. Now, it's not for everyone, and I will give you that, but I don't by any means think you should let this one "flaw" ruin the knife for you.

The sebenza is extremely slim in the hand and pocket, even though the knife itself is quite thick in the hand. This is because the handle slabs are as narrow in height as physically possible to still conceal the blade. This does mean that if you have somewhat...let's call it "thicker" hands (I do, don't get mad anyone), then when you are gripping the knife hard you can sometimes catch that edge in the closed position.

Does the edge protrude at all? NO
Does the edge normally get you? NO
Is this a flaw in the design of the knife? NO, at least not in my opinion.

There are much more expensive knives that I have bought that have much worse issues than this. And I will say that besides this, I have been completely unable to find any issues with my Sebenza at all. The steel is a little softer than I normally would choose, but I am a steel "snob", so that shouldn't bother you either. Besides, the slightly softer steel still holds an edge very well, and is very very easy to touch-up just about anywhere with a variety of sharpening systems and methods.
The sebenza is nearly perfect in terms of design and machining. You will not find another knife that is built nearly as well for the price, and I can essentially guarantee that personally.

Sorry, didn't mean to go on a rant, but I sincerely think everyone should at least own a Sebenza once, even if they find that it is not exactly their style. It is a great knie to let you know what to expect out of a high-end knife, and really sets the standards in almost all categories.

Yea, completely agree with you Charr. It's only when you grip the knife in closed position really hard so the meat in your fingers get pushed in. When you hold it normally nothing will ever happen. I don't think it's a design flaw as well. It's a great knife and it won't bite you if you use it normally.

This thing will ride my pocket till I die. I have been bitten by the KAI bug haha. EG

Congrats haha! That same bug bit me a few years ago. There's no going back now!

Nice, Rayster! How does she flip?

Oh, definitely! The releasing is the hardest part ;) I always loved Cyclones, but the minis were more my style.

Today I've got this lovely lady:

Grownstar, I would love to find a mini-cyclone.

I'm thinking that the big Cyclone and a bunch of others are going to get sold to fund one really special knife.

But first, I have to figure out what that one really special knife will be...

Let's see. It will need to be small enough to fit in my pocket, strong enough to pry open a bank vault....
