Nice! Is that a skinner blade? I just sold my strider becuase I saw a CF XM-18 3.5" spanto on the exchange that I just NEEDED to have.

Thanks! Yes, it's a skinner. Great blade shape, much cooler in person. Love the extra strength at the tip, and the high grind line all the way across.

Congrats on the purchase. You're gonna love it. The Hinderer XM-18 is the pinnacle of the folding knife, IMO. It's the perfect combination of usability, build quality, and sex-appeal. I'm a hard user, so it's as close to a "grail knife" as I'll ever get. I've been in contact with Rob at Hinderer Knives about ordering one direct from their next batch (I qualify). Looks like it'll be a Spanto too. Lemme know what you think of yours, and don't forget to post pics here!!

EDIT: Oh damn!!!! Just went and creeped your knife in the exchange section. It's got the textured CF scale, attaboy!!!!! You're in trouble now... I see a 3" wharnie in your near future.

Lol yup, CF scale. Little bit more money than a standard G10, but it's worth it to a CF nut like me:D

I would have preferred a slicer grind or even a skinner like yours, but I'm fine with the spanto. I hear it's great for tip strength, but not so great for slicing. Fine by me considering this knife falls squarely into the category of "hard use". If I need anything slicier, Ill grab my small sebbie.

But the one thing I'm worried about with hinderers is the flipping action. I hear the detents usually aren't too strong, so they tend to not flip super well. How does yours flip? Do you need some wrist to get it out?

As for the 3 inch wharnie, you're probably right. I handled that exact knife at a local store not too long ago, and it's just so damn cool. Although, I AM planning on getting another SNG some time soon because I did like the one I just sold. The only reason I sold it is because I wanted one with an earlier lockup and a different steel and grip variation than the s30v, plain Ti, and ranger green that this one had. So maybe the 3 inch wharnie will have to wait a little while.
