Probably one of my all-time favorite knives still, and I have owned and handled knives more then twice what the Fire used to cost when you could get them new.
One thing about them is to not expect everything to be 100% perfect like the alignment of the backspace or occasionally the blade centering, but if you have any trouble with any of that, Matt has fixed any and all issues I have ever had with my Fire, and right now it is perfect as it gets.
They are very good knives, and can take a lot of use without even so much as showing wear, and they are one of the best side-opening autos I have ever felt, while still being a great and very smooth manual knife at the same time.
It is a little tank as well. The lockup on mine (and most of them for that matter) is very early, but that is because the lockbar has to be able to seat entirely before the blade bounces back into the handle when you fire the automatic function. It still locks up like an absolute bank vault, and the knife has a stronger lockbar to offset the early lockup, so you won't have the lock disengage on you unless you want it to.
They are no longer being made by Matt, and even though he made quite a few of them, you are very unlikely to see very many go up for sale because they are such good knives, and it still wasn't easy to get a hold of one since he only sold them at shows or through some select dealers.
I am very fortunate to not only have gotten one of the more rare DLC coated blades, but also one of the versions with green hardware, which Matt said was very uncommon and likely there are only a handful of them in this configuration ever made.
It's a knife I am extremely proud and happy to own, and will probably be one of those knives I never let go of, because I already made the mistake of selling this one once, and then had to buy it back within only a month
If I ever do lose my mind and sell this though, Quiet has got first dibs on this one, since he already asked me if I ever sell it to let him know, and I certainly wouldn't mind letting it go to him if I ever did have to let it go to anyone
If you can find one, GET IT. They might not be the most affordable knives on the market, but man they are worth it!
Haha Great now I want one even more and realize even more how hard they are to find... seriously though thanks for the mini review, it certainly is my unicorn for now.hopeful someday I'll be a proud owner as well.
