So I "sharpened" my Sebenza.
It felt sharp and would almost shave.
Good to go right? Wrong. The time came to use it and it wouldn't even cut cardboard.
I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and send it to Chris and have them fix the bevels or whatever.
I used the Sharpie truck and I AM hitting the apex.
Either send it in or buy diamond stones.

So I had to make myself happy again and I bought a new SAK.
Tinker.

Have you tried stropping it? Maybe it's time to take off your belt and show it who's bladeboss! :D Good luck!

I always was intrigued by the looks of that particular Kizer. Love the scale. Custom? How do you like the knife? I've handled some Kizers, not the smoothest flippers.

These two both have scales done by spketch, Steve has a direct line to my checking account, now.

I like the Kizer. For the money, you almost can't beat it. It isn't a lightning fast flipper, but I actually prefer a bit of resistance, especially with larger blades. This was one of the BladeHQ exclusives, so it was far less expensive than the all ti version. Overall, I recommend Kizer, for sure. Don't let the "made in China" scare you away, they do a really solid job.

:D yes I have.. I have a "Rite Edge" unloaded leather strop. It didn't change much. I tried the corner of the fine stones today. 40 degree slots, 45 strokes per side.
I just don't get it. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I used to sharpen my Native 5 CPMS35VN with it, and could shave with it afterwards.

I've found that *not* counting strokes makes the sharpening process a whole lot less frustrating. Easier to slip into the zen, I reckon... ;) I say keep at it, don't count, and you'll get there! Best of luck, sir, and I do like that new Sapphire Tinker of yours! Cheers!

Thanks!

Wire edge maybe? I'd try the fine stones for a good long time. Then strop the hell out of it.

Have the seb and my domino on me now, carried these yesterday. Xm and seb at work and the Alan Davis out for dinner.

Just got myself a poor man's sebenza (sanrenmu 710) in black.
Really surprised by the quality for the price!

If you dont have one yet go get it, best 10euro i have ever spend. :)

^Yup Performance Series. More of a mid-tech Strider as they're hand made but the Blade wasn't hand ground - so they're a little easier on the wallet than the Full custom MSC's

These 2 today. I'm liking the Minos, but I need to work on it to improve on the factory edge. Just used the Strider to prepare my lunch. It sliced hard salami and cheese like a champ, and didn't need sharpening afterward. I guess it really is a hard use blade. LOL.
