Most of the day it was just the 642 and the speed strip. Only carried the Shield when I went into town.

Poly coated bullets. Best way to carry non jacketed ammo although there are many reasons. Mine has 1 round of CCI #4 shotshell on it.
Might I ask why?

Because there are six holes and my 442 only holds five. And you never know when you might need some shot. I go fishing and hiking and it's nice to be ready for anything.

That, sir, is the correct answer. You wouldn't believe how many people keep CCI shot rounds loaded for defense against two-legged threats.

You see the size of those pellets?
Boy, I hope you're not suggesting that this is a good idea for self defense. The tiny pellets are already ineffective, but when you throw the rifling of the barrel into the mix you end up with one hot, ineffective mess past about 7 feet. If a guy only has 5 opportunities to protect himself, I'd hope he'd be serious enough about it to use real bullets.
