EDC - What's in Your Pocket(s)??

Hi John,

The kimber case is actually a Non-Lethal Self Defense Tools, that shoots two charges of OC at around 90 Mph. It clips on the inside of her purse.

About flashlights, she already stole my Inova x5 and keeps it in the car....

The barkie is one of my favourites and carries wonderfully in a lot of ways. i needed to shave down, shape and bend the top of the sheath to have more handle exposed and a thumb notch to push on for a better draw. it also gets scary sharp with just 600 sandpaper leaving a toothy edge... i am considering to save money for a pearl handle one.... or maybe get a fallkniven wm1.

thanks.
I would hate to get hit with those charges, sounds like she is well prepaired.

I have found that Barkies are the best cutting tools around. There is something about the grind they put on them that makes them slice through anything.

John

Here are my stuff. The flashlight and multitool get axed in the summer as I only have two pockets on my shorts. Keys are getting drastically reduced so I only carry half of what's there.

What's that black plastic thing on the right?

Al, I can't get enough of your EDC items, and thanks for all of the informative links. It's nice how you go out of your way to explain peoples' questions.

POLLO, thanks a lot buddy, now I have to order a Barkie boot knife. You just make it sound too good!! My wife is gonna kill me one of these days:) I never should have gotten her that pink leek for her purse, I could be the one she uses it on if I don't stop buying knives!!

I have to ask where you got the purple mini grip, gotta get one for the gf!
My edc today: ZT 0301, Spyderco jess horn ZDP-189, SAK minichamp w/ white photn II on keyring, keys and wallet and my cell

Hi Reaper.

I got the purple mini grip at an outdoor store here in Portland, OR it was the last one and they misplaced the box, so i got a very good deal!

I tried to look around online but i couldn't find one available at dealers that i usually buy from.

if you think you girlfriend would like a pink knife, there are a few benchmades, kershaw and a new delica available at knifeworks.com. do a search for "pink" and you'll see them all in one page. nice folks. i ordered from them numerous times.

take care

Do you take all of that stuff out of your pockets when you get on the scale at the doctor's office or just tell the nurse to deduct 10 lbs from whatever the scale says :)?

I've been carrying a Kalista. It's in a kydex sheath with the chain looped through my belt. You pull the knife, it clears the pocket and then the sheath.

Heh, I was actually responding to another post by Alwilliam, who is the one who carries all of that stuff. I have a pretty good pile of stuff on me every day, but I don't come close to his kit!!!!

Cheers,
Jon:)

All those items are VERY light in weight.Titanium, scadnium, carbon fiber it really cuts the weight.

The .357 is like 12oz...etc...

Hey Al,

The pentagon works really well actually. It's a single l.e.d. bulb and works on one AA battery. I have a surefire that I love to death but it runs on two lithiums and they don't last all that long and are pretty expensive to boot. This little pentagon was picked up for me by a friend at the Cabelas in Pheonix and I love it. It gets quite a bit of illumination out of the one AA battery.

As far as the little "keg" on the keychain goes, 20 years ago, when I was in high school a buddy of mine worked at a pet store. They sold these things with a little piece of paper to write your dog's name, address, and phone number on in case he got lost. You know how high school is though, he thought they resembled a keg of beer and swiped a half dozen of them. I've kept it on my keychain ever since and usually keep a couple of advil inside.

Cheers,
Jon

I did and will get one...I need a very small angle light for work. THANKS for info.

Al,
first of all, what is the purpose of the leather unit wrapped around the little automatic? Does it help stabilize your grip, or is it part of a holstering system?...very interesting.

Also, I told you about my lil' keychain barrel, where did you get yours? and how long have you had it. I've never heard of any except for the five or six that me and my buddies had.

Cheers,
Jon

The seecamp holster is a excellent design for a wallet holster ,works great for back pocket carry.

I found mine in the early 1980s:D it had a real but very tiny champion spark plug in it.I still have both to this day,I am a hard core pack rat.

Al that is really cool. Kinda makes me wish i never put mine on my keychain. Mine used to be anodized gold just like yours but the gold is all but gone, and aluminum gets nicks in it like crazy. Yours looks great and the little spark plug is way cool. Did you notice I also have an original proto tools flathead screwdriver key right next to my barrel. It's from the late fifties, early sixties and was given to me by my pop when i was about 10. You can find those on ebay sometimes for around $20, and they seem like the type of lil' gadget that you would like. Anyway, off to bed

Sorry all for getting off the subject of knives a bit here.

Jon

My pocket dump today, most of this stuff is standard stuff I carry every workday. The Main blade does not stay the same everyday. Really the Spin would do all my work related tasks, but what fun is that?..............:D

How does the 470x mags perform on the Defender, the reason I'm asking is because my defender is having issues with the Colt original mags and I'm looking to buy these Wilson combat 47OX mags, this ones are better?

By the way great rig!

Pesonaly I think they have done just fine, Someone here on the forum taht has been a member for some time will not post something that is bad.

Give it a try.

the reason, imo, the wilson mags are more reliable, is the plastic follower.

plastic on metal will move much smoother. metal on metal will tend to grind.

i use all my colt, kimber, and off brand mags with metal followers for the range (i do use the wilson's occassionally just to make sure the feed lips, springs, etc, are all in good working order).

if your issues are failures to feed, you may just need to replace the springs.

if you are having other malfunctions, the feed lips may be bent, the follower may be bent, or there may just be dirt inside.

ive shot quite a bit with 1911's, especially over the past year, and the wilson series are the most reliable i have seen.
