Im going to some bad places today. Il need mi Winkler Belt knife.

It's been a slow Saturday so far. I didn't even get dressed yet. If I do I'll probably bring my tenacious

My recently acquired Pohl Force Alpha 2 in one pocket and my Hogue EX-01 in the other.

Of course, always riding shotgun next to my wallet is my Vic Climber.

The Pohl Force, albeit a BIG folder, rides surprisingly comfortable in a front pocket.

Here's today's carry. My new Dozier Arkansas Toothpick (I love this knife), along with my favorite slip joint, from Jerry Halfrich and a WH Tom Brown Quest.

Dang Elwood! You keep pushing me closer and closer to blowing the budget.......AGAIN!

That Winkler is so very sweet looking. I like the high ride sheath and the way it is constructed with leather over kydex. How does the curly maple seem to hold up? He said he finishes the wood out with beeswax, and that it is not stabilized. But that is what I want on mine.

I told Mr. Winkler that I would be waiting until Spring to have the Utility made that I had mentioned earlier in this post.

Now I just don't know if I can hold out that long! He said it would take 3 to 6 weeks to deliver, so maybe I could.....................

Great news. I wonder if wearing it with the clip very visible would make it open carry or would it have to be in a knife holster on a belt such as a Buck 110 often resides in a leather sheath.

Jump in the legal section and ask, there are guys in there who know a lot more then I do...I wouldn't want to say either way and then you get arrested, play it safe. :)

The curly maple was much darker when I got it 5 months ago (almost reddish). But aside from that it still looks great, it been in and out of bad places whit me, the handle scrapes on walls and rough surfaces when I’m out working but as you can see from the picture it made to last. The knife itself is starting to lose its original dark caswell finish, and getting a very nice patina to it. You should take the plunge my friend.

From a different thread, 'name your knife thread':

Still no idea who the maker is, though.

It’s a Winkler Knives R & D Hawk baby hawk. It’s the first of it type made. Bought it at the Costa Mesa Knife show last October. I carry it on my ops vest.

Nice pics Elwood. I got my Winkler Knives II Belt Knife a few weeks ago and I'm real pleased with it. I do need to get it out in the woods with it though. I got the curly maple scales with the KG Gun Coat finish. I'm curious to see how the finish holds up.
