  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Trying out a bronze anodized titanium scale on my XM-18 3.5 Spanto. I got a great deal on the scale and was intent on chemically stripping off the bronze anodized finish until the wife convinced me to try it out first. Not sure about it yet, it's gotta grow on me.

I actually like the bronze.

Kershaw 3655 and here is why:
1. the balloon has not gone up yet;
2. 3.5 inch blade, plain - good for cutting;
3. speed safety - can easily deploy one handed;
4. clip removed -not advertising that I am carrying a tool;
5. warm weather, wear gym shorts every day;
6. not going to bad neighborhood'
7. retired.

If the balloon had gone up while I was shopping at the national supermarket chain, I was no more than 100 yards from some of the best defensive folders and fixed blades in the world - and I have the training to use them.

I mostly collect and use traditional knives and fixed blades, I like the way the thinner blades perform and the materials they are made from. My collection is probably 90% traditional. Then awhile back I bought a ZT 0562 tiger stripe. At first I thought it looked a bit gas-station like but still very much appreciated and liked the knife. Now I am on my second version, it just arrived today. I feel a little like I have crossed over to the dark side :).

Is there Really? I envy.
Thanks for leaving me that link, F filtrum . For all the searching I've done regarding Andrey Biryukov, I've never found nor known of his website. There are certainly a lot of knives there, though many are "unavailable", but the one I just purchased is not even shown. It's a 4.25" S90V titanium liner-lock with very handsome CF scales. The Spanish firm that I purchased from has not yet sent me any shipping info, but I'm hopeful that I'll see something in the morning given the time difference.

One thing that I did learn through my searches fairly recently is that Biryukov is located in Pavlovo--the same city that is home to Alexander Cheburkov's workshop. I have three of Alex's knives, one of which I custom ordered from him with the help of an introduction by Vlad P. I've also enjoyed some cordial correspondence with him with the kind assistance of his wife Marina who translates for us.

Thanks again for leading me to that trove of Biryukov knives, though your help may well have unfortunate financial consequences for this knife knut. :oops:
