Looks like an old set up based in conductor insulation and splitting strands out. I have never seen the strands separated like that

Yep it’s an old one. 250mcm on a 400amp service. We run parallel 3/0 or 500mcm on 400amp anymore. We’ll replace them later. There’s a 100amp service on the building I changed the feeds on today to get them temporary power. All the insulation has cracked and wore off bare coming out of the weather head. I’ve seen people split the strands before. Not saying it’s correct but I’ve seen it before

Thank you, my friend. It is a very well made knife and indicative of the quality I had hoped we would see more of coming out of GEC this year. It's been a rough go for them as it has been for many.

ZT with me all afternoon. Such a nice, simple edc knife. I’ll tell ya, if they ever do a more “intricate” version of this knife I’ll be all over it. I’d love to see some type of inlay....timascus, copper, wood, Raffir etc. Maybe I’ll look in to some custom options, there’s gotta be some out there I’d think.
