EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Mmmmmaybe.....

How’s the front flipping action on yours? Mine has very good lockup but came with a poor flipping action. I tested out the graphite washers and they did not work well at all. Now with the pb washers and the sides of the tang polished it flips very well.

An issue with it is that the stop pin has no shoulder so tightening the stop pin screws can cause the scales to pinch the tang of the knife.

I'm on the... how did I phrase it? "lower end of the average hand size bell curve". So, by the time I get my thumb out to the end of the flipper, I've had to give up too much grip on the rest of the knife. I've got the pivot quite tight anyway, because I carry it loose in my pocket. I want those snail trails.

So the actual "flipper" part isn't happening for me. I open it with the nail nick, and it feels more in tune with the "modern sodbuster" theme of the knife.

Been using these two today along with a new photo setup.

That new setup is already paying dividends. Those shots are crisp! Very nice

Try using the side of your index finger to flip it open rather than your thumb. It might be easier like that. As far as I see it there are 4 ways to open a front flipper.

Using the pad of your thumb on the corner of the flipper and pulling it straight over the top.

Using the side of your thumb more against the flat top of the jimping and pushing it up and over.

And using the side of your index finger between the first and second knuckle from the tip.

There’s a fourth way which involves reaching over he top with your index finger but you jeed NBA sized fingers to pull it off in my experience. I can’t even do it on my little Kizer Feist.

Try out those different methods one of them may work for you. Some knives seem to work better with one method rather than another.

Btw: there’s a secret message on the inside scales of the knife. Watch this video where the knife is disassembled to see it.

I did see their "secret message", and I could have done just fine, without it. The knife stands on the strength of it's design heritage, and if Mosquito Tactical felt the need to add cutesy little details, they could have done many things that did not involve a "poop" emoji. In terms of marketing tactics, is it really a good idea to associate your knife with dog shxt? Especially on the tenth anniversary of your company?

I like the knife, but I'm baffled by some of the decisions that got made during the final design process.

I’m going through my 12 to prepare for a One Knife November attempt. Today, I’m enjoying the shit out of carrying the blue weave Spyderco Domino. This thing seems to be a task magnet. It feels as though I run into surprise cutting tasks every time I carry it.

Solid choice for a 1 month challenge. It has a "put me to work" feel to it.
