EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Today was overcast and rainy. Perfect day to take a blaze orange Delica on a little hike through the woods! :D:thumbsup:

I'm have a real liking for my Boker Kwaikens .They look like little mini-Samurai swords.A good manual (non-assisted) flipper.

They’ve come out with a nicer version called the Boker Kwaiken compact. It is a titanium framelock made in Solingen Germany as opposed to the other kwaikens which were made in China for Boker plus.

I never really liked the fact that many versions of the Kwaiken have titanium scales and steel liners. Always seemed kind of silly to me.

Btw check out the Boker Kwaiken fixed blade. It is a really nice little piece. Also check out the Alexander Dietz mod to the non flipper (thumbdisk) kwaikens. It turns them into one of the coolest flippers with one of the best “flipper tabs” I have ever seen.

thats too bad about MD for you -I just got my Bob Terzuola tcf and it is very nice(WE knife did a good job on it)

That’s a great looking knife! I would love to hear a very critical review of the piece. Sadly I’ve given up on MD as the corners they tend to cut to make a price point haven’t been worth it to me...and those corners are often skipped over by so-called “reviewers.”

Anyway, that is an awesome looking knife!!!

I don’t know how critical I can be, I’m not a professional reviewer and sometimes I think a lot of folks are just out to pick nits. But how about this:

The good:
I like the size of the knife and the grind of the blade. The blade has a nice chamfer on the spine. The framelock has a satisfying “click” when it engages, and it’s got a steel insert to prevent lockstick and an overtravel stop. It’s a push button style flipper and it works well(I don’t have a ton of experience here, so find some grains of salt to take). It takes a little shake to drop shut, which I prefer. The purple color is awesome and the fit and finish are great for a $139 knife.

The not good:
The knife is heavy. I carry a Presidio II auto that’s heavier, but it’s also a very overbuilt knife in my book. The blade stop pin is a different setup than I’m used to with my axis lock Benchmade and compression lock Spyderco knives. It’s a pin through the blade that runs through a little groove in the titanium handles. I feel like it could potentially cause lock rock. I also don’t like the tension/lack of flexibility on the clip, or the way the clip digs into my hands when I hold it.

It’s a good knife, but not for me. Right now I feel like I’ll end up selling it to fund another purchase.
