No. This is the Reate made version out of China. The Ultramar 229..... Would love to have an American version, but this one is amazingly done.Is that a Chaves custom? That's not the American Made 228 mitech?
Some of the area we have cleared recently. Took down a few trees in order to see this biggish guy. Through all that brush and bush, 80 yards away, is a beautiful body of water. The goal is to see that water from the window and deck, but have some nice beautiful trees dotting the open. It’s a work in progress because I love trees, and hate cutting them down. All the hardwood get cut for firewood. The pine trunks get cut to 8’ lengths and picked up by a guy for burning in his outdoor woodstove. Some of the other large pines go to my buddies sawmill, and others get used for posts and rustic outdoor structures.

Making a switch on my train of thought. The Medford Gentleman Jack is a $400 glorified letter opener in my opinion. The backspring is very weak in the open position. Cutting cheese is a pain, because as you know, cheese is sticky. So when pulling the knife up and out of the cheese, it wants and does come “unlocked.” This is super annoying to me.
Medford needs to fix this issue. Hopefully I get lots of mail, so I can continue to use this alot. Hahaha!
The Arno Bernard Rinkhals slipjoint is a much nicer and solid modern slipjoint. Probably gonna switch back to that. It’s too bad, because the Gentleman Jack is such an attractive no fuss slipjoint.
I'll forward you all my bills...
Went with the Viper Orso today and had one of those moments where I thought to myself; “Ya’ know, honestly.....I’d be absolutely fine if this were my only knife.”
Fortunately, the moment passed quickly. I hate teetering on that fine line of absurdity. Sheesh, one knife? Yeah, okay...that’s just crazy-think right there.
Anyway, back to the car pics today. In hindsight, really wish I’d wiped the knife down a bit better.

Lol, and for the record, I remembered another reason I started shying away from the car pics. It was one of my Cheberkovs, which both arrived wicked sharp. I set one of them atop my dash (right above the steering wheel) for a picture....which always kinda scares the crap outta me because one slip could cost me a nut. The knife didn’t slip and the boys are still intact, but by simply (and very gently) standing it there the blade managed to slice into the leather. So now I’ve got two good reasons never to try that shot again. Or maybe three...if we wanna get technical about it.
Wow. Rookie call on my part. It looks larger than the 229 in your photo. I heard those have stellar fit and finish! No. This is the Reate made version out of China. The Ultramar 229..... Would love to have an American version, but this one is amazingly done.
Hence why man has two nuts....
