EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

Thanks. They do make different models that are larger. This particular model has a CA legal size, and one a little bigger coming in at a whopping 2.25". I got the CA legal size because I have a thing for small autos.

I like them as well. I am really wanting a ProTech SBR, but CT has a preposterous 1.5” limit on autos. I guess I could own it, but I could never legally carry it outside my house.

Oddly, most other knives with up to 4” edges are good to go. So a 3.9” blade flipper is OK to carry, but not a 2” auto.

Lol, kinda figured the car pics might be getting a bit stale. The pool table gets a lot of filtered light in the mornings...which seems to highlight the colors a bit better on the more vibrant knives.

Plus, about a week ago my wife snuck up on me while I was taking some knife pics in my car. She knocked on the window, startling me to the point I nearly crapped myself right then and there. Had the knife actually been in my hand I’d have probably sliced right through one of my seats.....or stabbed myself in the groin. I dunno, the whole thing left me a bit traumatized. Definitely not my manliest moment.

Anyway, I knew I was pushing it with this venue as well. Tomorrow I’ll muster up some courage and try the car thing again....or, if it’s not another sweltering hot day, I may even step out of the air conditioning and try to reconnect with nature.

Sweltering hot? Are you in Florida too?

I've been looking at videos of the 4 Max Scout lately. I have one in my Amazon cart. It's beautifully overbuilt. It just looks like it's begging to be put to bushcraft use!

Billy, you'll really enjoy this model from Cold Steel. I just took a 'limited-edition', and created a Dark Knight version based on another member doing the initial mod.

Haha that's great. I remember at Christmas my wife saw me taking a picture of my knife in the tree. Before she said anything I just said "you take pictures of food just let me enjoy this." she just shrugged and walked off. I still try and take my pictures in private though because it does all seem rather strange.

Hey Billy The Hungry Billy The Hungry , you nailed it...we live in Naples.

The “Real Feel” temperature down here was 97 degrees today. It’ll get worse in the summer, but the humidity this afternoon was just an energy sucking bitch.

I take it you’re in Florida as well? If so, where?

I live in North Palm Beach, I'm 117 miles from you broski.

I swear our "winter" was even shorter than normal this year. It's already hot!!

You just made me tired and hungry all at the same time !
Beautiful pictures and Thank you for sharing:)
Much respect for the life style You’ve chose and I’m sure many are with envy with the exception of the work involved. Although I bet is very rewarding in many ways

Haha! Tired and hungry. :)

Wind picked up last night just before closing up shop, and the temp was dipping to -5°. Spent another 2 hrs just stirring around the coals to get them to burn down. Since the wind was getting pretty strong and blowing coals outta the pit, we opted to douse it before heading for shuteye.

Lots to think about when having brush fires...decisions to make...it all comes down to respecting the flame. It can be unpredictable.

We have another quarter acre of trees to fell, and then we will pull all the stumps and grade the land. This all done by muscle, sweat and blood. When it all comes together...and you sit back and enjoy the view, it is 100% worth it.

It’s a slow process, as we have been working on this property for 8 years now. It was a mess when we purchased.

Thanks for the kind words. Not sure if I’d be jealous if I were you...I’m beat today. Haha.

Some of the area we have cleared recently. Took down a few trees in order to see this biggish guy. Through all that brush and bush, 80 yards away, is a beautiful body of water. The goal is to see that water from the window and deck, but have some nice beautiful trees dotting the open. It’s a work in progress because I love trees, and hate cutting them down. All the hardwood get cut for firewood. The pine trunks get cut to 8’ lengths and picked up by a guy for burning in his outdoor woodstove. Some of the other large pines go to my buddies sawmill, and others get used for posts and rustic outdoor structures.

Making a switch on my train of thought. The Medford Gentleman Jack is a $400 glorified letter opener in my opinion. The backspring is very weak in the open position. Cutting cheese is a pain, because as you know, cheese is sticky. So when pulling the knife up and out of the cheese, it wants and does come “unlocked.” This is super annoying to me.
Medford needs to fix this issue. Hopefully I get lots of mail, so I can continue to use this alot. Hahaha!

The Arno Bernard Rinkhals slipjoint is a much nicer and solid modern slipjoint. Probably gonna switch back to that. It’s too bad, because the Gentleman Jack is such an attractive no fuss slipjoint.
