EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

How you liking the Altitude? Hows it do for IWB carry? Seems kinda expensive for what you get.

It's expensive but I love it. I have it mounted on a dynamis alliance zero clip. I carry it so I can draw right or left handed and it's quick on the draw after the sheath has broken in. I'm pretty much a fixed blade convert, and am seriously considering selling my zt804. It hasn't been carried since getting the altitude.

I was talking to one of the salty old response team (SWAT) guys on the department and he made some fantastic points about using a folder in a defensive situation. Basically it had better be assisted or an auto if you think you are going to be able to effectively deploy it under stress and that's with reps on reps of practice. A fixed blade is literally grab and go.

This probably isn't a concern for most but I carry a knife as not just a cutting tool, but a secondary defensive weapon. A 3 inch blade is more than capable of inflicting some serious damage and this one is light enough I forget I have it on me.

That strider looks pretty slick btw.

...aaannnNNNDDD STIIIIILLLLLLLLL!!!

One Knife November continues with the Wayfarer 247. The pocket clip came loose after wrestling with the fat pocket seams on the jeans I wear to work for the past month and change. I decided to get to thread locking it at max tension, because I happen to like it that way. This is a screw backed out to about a rotation away from being free from the threads. I love that. This is not a design you’re going to lose screws from. Those things are in deeeeep. One more aspect of this design and execution that’s a thing of beauty.

You've inspired me to carry my 247 again today, RBid. It's such a good knife and so well made, but the clip can indeed make insertion a bit of a pain. Like you, I prefer it tight so have learned to slip my thumbnail under it when pocketing.

Beautiful hardware and fob on that! I’ve picked up the same habit when pocketing. The clip does sit very low. I knew that before buying, and Eugene offered to change it as I was looking at these for the first time at Blade West. It isn’t a big deal to me. Only comes into play with one of my pairs of jeans. No fears of retention failure, either.
