You got that right about D2, brother. My original 710 came to me used with the worst imaginable sharpening job ever. I screwed around with it for a couple years and never did get it right. Two winters ago I got diamonds for my EdgePro and finally got it wicked sharp. Still took a couple hours, roughing it out with the diamonds then changing over to the narrow hones for the recurve. Finally learned how to use diamond stones. For a long time I have been able to get a knife from pretty sharp to razor sharp. My issue was always getting a truly dull knife razor sharp.
No more! I have gotten these two badboys razor sharp! The 940 was dull along the whole edge and fhe HEST was dull towards the tip and front of the belly. I am so happy!

Btw as these are the first two knives I have ever successfully reprofiled allow me to say D2 is a real pain to reprofile. I found the s30v on the 940 WAY easier to reprofile than the d2 on the HEST.

Sick ano job!!!!!!!!!!I do all my sharpening by hand. I initially bought a sharpmaker but quickly realized that unless the edge angle was 30 or 40 degrees and I was holding the knife perfectly vertical the jig was essentially useless. (Well the 40 degree can put a microbevel on an inclusive angle under 40 degrees) Bought the diamond rods hoping I could reprofile edges with them, no luck.
So I started sharpening holding the rod in one hand and the knife in the other. Then switching hands to do either side of the edge. It worked fine riding the edge on the AlOx rods to get a very sharp edge but reprofiling with the diamond rod was still always a failure. Just recently I figured out how to ise the diamond rods freehand to reprofile. I had to use much faster almost sandpaperlike stokes to eat off enough steel. Now I can sharpen for real, not only touch up!

Just finished anodizing this. Wanted to try a new pattern, a snake pattern. Every time I anodize I seem to learn something new. I figured out how to get nice clean anodized geometric shapes and will do that on my next ano job.

Sick ano job!!!!!!!!!!
You’re definitely coming up with some great results! I really dig the colors and especially the patterns you’ve been able to achieve. Agreed, experimenting on finishes can be very rewarding & entertaining. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next! Flame ano is fun as hell! I was trying the MAP gas torch on Ti dice & enjoyed the results...Thanks! I am slowly learning more and more techniques of anodizing. It is actually a surprisingly easy and a great way to have fun with your knives.
I’d like to get a blow torch and try some flame anodization too.
