Wow, that's a beauty. Love to get my hands on one of those.Wishing y'all a Very Merry Christmas, though I've got nothing holiday-oriented to show for myself here. I'll just go with Carbon Fiber Foreign Flipper Friday carrying my Andrey Biryukov #9.

There is some red in the CF, and the lanyard of course, so maybe that counts for something....![]()
That's a really sweet Mini Tolk. I searched and checked out the sales thread for more pics, then went to AZCK to check out the model. Looking at the price there, I assume yours is a Southard custom. Is that the same knife you ended up with? (I seem to recall you writing somewhere that you bought way lower than your seller paid at AZCK, though I may well have confused knives and posters.)Love this Southard Mini Tolk that I recently purchased here on the exchange. Can't help but wonder how a thumb stud would work on this knife though...

Anyway, as to you wondering about thumb studs, my Tolk is from Brad's Performance line (mid-tech) and a full size. As you can see from the pic below, the studs on mine are set pretty far forward on the blade and are basically useless. I can thumb flick the blade out only by loading up a lot of pressure--it's neither comfortable nor time-saving--and can't slow-roll it open at all. On the other hand, the knife flips very easily despite having a fairly stiff detent. Brad seems to have gotten the flipping geometry just right on mine as I don't need a lot of oomph to get the blade out and can deploy it fairly discreetly, unlike, say, some ZTs which "come out like a rocket" only and require considerable pressure to do so. How's the flipping action on your Mini?

Oh that really sucks!! I feel for ya!
Look at it this way, you gave a stranger a very, very generous and nice Christmas Gift.
(Did you check your seatbelt?)
Yeah, someone’s going to find a kick-ass knife.
Everyone has their own taste, but OD green drop point with apocalyptic bronze blade & hardware—-get out!—- It’s the coolest Ultratech I’ve ever seen. It replaced almost everything else in my rotation.
<<Hey, maybe it was a conspiracy by my other lonely knives….>>
