I was pretty amped yesterday morning, with plans to spend the afternoon cutting loose on a friend’s lease and getting in some much needed target practice. It’s a massive property with “range” areas set up for everything from handguns and rifles to sporting clays and compound bows. I seldom get the opportunity to go. In fact, it’s been almost two years since I put a round through any of my rifles…..so yeah, I was psyched.

But I had woken up feeling kinda crappy. Caffeine didn’t help, meds didn’t help….and by noon I was running a fever of 101 and knew something was off. I also knew there was no way it was Covid, ‘cause I don’t get Covid.

Figured it was most likely just a 24hr bug, but with some coaxing from my wife I did the responsible thing and broke out a rapid test. I mean, in the rare chance that it was Covid, which I knew it wasn’t, I couldn’t risk exposing any of the guys going.

We can all see where this is going, right?

Sure enough, I tested positive…..lol, all three times. Cancelled my plans, obviously….and I’ve now been sequestered to our bedroom. I’m not worried about it, but I am a little upset that my wife wouldn’t let me get a suite at the Ritz Carlton…..you know, so I wouldn’t be a nuisance around the house or put her at risk.

Anyway, I was planning on taking the McNees…..and if anyone asks the answer is a resounding “No! I didn’t choose the McNees because it matched my rifle!”

Well, ok…..maybe I did on some small, subconscious level.

What are we looking at here? Both are handsome knives but I’m particularly drawn to the one on the left. Thanks.
The larger one on the left is from Maverick Customs (James Robert Buckley). Its in 10V steel. I am very impressed with it. Its on washers, very smooth, with solid lock up. Good heft, clip placement, etc. I liked it so much I bought another similar one in Vanadis 8.

The smaller one is a NCC Knives (Nick Chuprin/Robert Carter collab) BBM V2. This on Skiff bearings, in very high hardness Nitro V, with a great hollow grind.
