most pit vipers are more scared of you then you are of them. they typically flee unless cornered. I doubt you'll see it again. if you do just give it lots of space and it will leave. So my wife got me out of bed way too early for a Sunday morning. Apparently, while she was taking the paper to the recycling can out the side garage door she happened upon a 4-5 ft diamondback rattler slithering its way into our side garden/terrace.
It’s a fenced in area we let the dog have access to between walks. It’s also a place we love to sit in the mornings….so a rattlesnake is a definite no-go. Deer, bears, raccoons, corn snakes and even the occasional coyote I’m fine with; heck, we love nature….but rattlers and moccasins scare the crap outta me.
After a brief debate during which my wife convinced my pre-caffeinated, somewhat groggy brain that there was no way in hell I could use a firearm in our neighborhood and grabbing the compound bow was just an absolutely ridiculous idea, I snapped too and did what any man would do….I grabbed a knife, a long pole and a shovel.
I still have no idea what I had hoped to accomplish with the knife; I just grabbed the first one that registered as a snake-killer….my Cheburkov Tukan. It doesn’t make any more sense now than it did this morning, so don’t ask.
Anyway, armed to the teeth and looking tougher than shit in my jammy bottoms and ice-cream stained t-shirt…..I gingerly made my way out to the terrace. I realized, once my wife pointed it out, that shoes probably would’ve been a good idea. But I was committed at that point and the adrenaline was pumping, so I said something stupid like “shoes are for sissies and I have the reflexes of a cat on speed, I got this shit”. For the record, a pissed off turtle moves quicker than I do and snakes pucker me up tight enough to fart a diamond. We both knew it was false bravado, yet she still let me go out there. Gonna have to give that some thought at some point.
I prodded and poked every bush, plant shrub and tree for a solid 15 minutes….but the snake was nowhere to be found. I have mixed feelings about that. I’m glad I didn’t go to war with a diamondback in my pajamas and bare feet, but I’m on edge with the effer still on the loose out there.
Guess I’ll be in boots tonight taking the dog out. Probably strap my K-bar to my thigh and keep the Tukan in my jammie pocket.
Yeah, I know….taking a knife to a snake fight still doesn’t make sense. But c’mon…..every guy on this forum woulda done the same thing. It’s just a natural reaction, right?
Lol, I’ll let ya know if and when I bag this thing…..or move into a hotel. Hope everyone has a great week!

Hey Brother so far I’m very happy with it although still on the honeymoon. Feels really good in hand and built like tank . Carry’s well in the pocket seems to cut well out of the box maybe a little thick behind the edge. But I’ve only test cut some paper and opened a TV dinner box or two. One thing for sure you can carry It with confidence your not going to break it.hey factor, how do you like that burgundy mini adamas in the cruwear

I think you should be very happy with it.
For a size comparison I’d say it’s pretty close to a para 3 except in thickness. It’s fun to fidget with to and the blade will drop free after very little break in.
Nice ! Can’t wait to see it and your thoughts.i should get mine tues or wed, ill try and post a pic thanks

It’s the Buck slim you just got, it’s getting you hooked on that grindHow do you like it? Could be a good fit for me. I’m starting to prefer hollow grinds and the 3.6” length would be good
Very true!! I have a Civivi Elementum also, those have great hollow grinds as wellIt’s the Buck slim you just got, it’s getting you hooked on that grind![]()
