EDC XIII Which knife or knives are you carrying today?

That's true, and I expect because it's not something that feels like it should be able to pry open a car door. Also, just checked, and MXG Gear might indeed be the way to go! DLT has a chart on their site (iirc) which speaks to which parts overlap between models and the tab and clip are about it for the Firetac. Everything else like the screws, pivot and so on fit only the Firetac. I'm going to need to check out one of those MXG clips. The clips they make for Spyderco are great.
Yep I’ve been down that road trying to trick out my Firetac with bronze parts and found the clips and tab were all I could buy. If I remember what I did with the first model I had I believe I sent the clip, tab, lock side and liners off to get anodized. But that was a little overkill.

So, I got this beautiful red Douk Douk in the Les Colors series. I thought it was just a normal carbon Douk-Douk painted red, but it is not, it's a 14C28n blade, definitely more stoked and happy with the price, was listed as regular "high carbon steel", and even the picture is off on the BHQ site, as I notice they tend to neglect traditional knives... no Opinel restocks, They were very offended about a year ago at my asking for the veracity of their Higonokamis, because they were unmarked, I would figure a place getting them direct from the family who makes them would know better than to say "Handmade by Nagao Higonokami...". That is as if they said "Spyderco knives, created and founded by Sal Spyderco, is a company that...".

This thing is gorgeous though, I love it, sheath can attach to belt.

After a lot of time with both my other Hinderers, this knife is surprisingly delicate feeling, though clearly it's as durable as the others (my XM-18 and PX). It's a quality knife, but is obviously much better suited for a light EDC role. For a desk driver like me, it's pretty great, and this one came REALLY sharp. With the bearings installed, it drops shut. Cool, until I wasn't looking, and I tabbed over the lock, and it dropped shut on the side of my thumb. A minor cut, but hey, guess it's mine for sure. I need to get a picture of the three together so folks can see how slim this thing really is.

About the only critique I have at the moment is that I wish a deep-carry clip option were available, because this knife basically disappears weight-wise in a pocket.
Awesome! I think the knife is underrated, as you don’t hear much about them in the sea of XM fans. MXG gear has deep carry clips for hinderers that will fit. I’ve had them before. I think they do plain, blue, bronze, and black. I might pick up a bronze for my green Firetac.
I was wondering if the XM clips would fit as they sure look the same at the attachment point and then saw Para's response. I've got the factory clip for my Firetac loose and kinda reverse-engineered to check by putting that on one of my XM Skinny's. It fit like a glove.

I'm glad you got that Firetac and are pleased with it, as mine has become a real favorite. I think you said yours is blue on blue and I'd like to see a pic of that side when you have one as I've become interested in RHK's blue ano lately. I saw the blue on blue one Peakbagger bought last month on the Exchange, but that pic didn't blow up very well. Is that the same knife turned over quickly?

On another note, I found that Harsey Lone Wolf you grabbed off the Exchange after seeing your post at the Latest Acquisitions thread. I've always been struck by the similarity between that knife and the SHF, but after finding a vid to discover that mystery tab was a locking button I realized what a humungous monster it really is. That's a very cool pick-up and something I might have grabbed had I seen it earlier.

This arrived an hour ago. I was hoping to recieve old stock, but no luck. I much preferred this knife hollow ground with a polished blade.

I don't see how stonewash and a flat Sabre grind benefits this model.

At any rate, it's a cool blade.

Also, I am a bit confused on the choice to use a rubber guard for a fighting knife. Seems like metal would be a smarter choice.

Awesome. Looks like an excellent all-round woods knife. I, too, would pick hollow over flat grind for that design, but it shouldn’t make too big a difference overall. Still a very capable-looking blade.

Thanks for the kind words.

Side note: Your pictures of the Buck 124 has me near the tipping point of purchasing one. I've always enjoyed my 119 models, and held off on the 124. Your experience shared here in BladeForums has me thinking I would enjoy one as well.

If you do end up getting one, I hope it serves you as effectively as it serves me! It’s an excellent knife. It replaced my 119 as my EDC.

Only word of caution I have is that the handle is unusually large. It’s one of the reasons I love this knife, but my brother, who has much smaller hands, doesn’t care for it.
