Happy Memorial Day everyone! Memorial and Veteran's Day are some of my all-time favorite holidays. I like to sit down and think about what both of my grandpa's went through in their young days fighting in WW2 and mentally put myself in their shoes. It's terrifying and humbling and puts my life's issues in perspective and helps me realize how blessed I am.

Both my grandpa's served during WW2. My grandpa on my moms side was a captain in the army and stormed the beaches of Okinawa, one of WW2's bloodiest battles and the last major battle of the war. The US suffered almost 50,000 casualties and almost 13,000 soldiers perished. Japan suffered 110,000 deaths of their military troops. He was a knat's hair away from having to go to Korea for the Korean war also but just barely retired on time to miss it, praise the lord.

My grandpa on my dads side was a Merchant Marine also during WW2 and supplied our US troops with the supplies and transport needed to win the war. 1,554 merchant marine ships were sunk during the war, many or most of the merchant marines on board lost their lives when their ships went down.

These two knives here were given to me from my grandpa's at different points when I was younger. Today I took them out and polished them up and spending some time admiring them.

O wow man, that's awesome! Very cool pic and that's awesome you have your knife you carried in Iwo Jima. Thank you very much for your service!

I was gonna go with the MP1 for an extra M today, but it's hard to resist this Firetac stored right next to it and there's plenty of consonance attached to this one for a Made-in-USA Micarta Memorial Day Monday.
